Simple Saturday competition for anyone who wants to join in. This has replaced the Saturday TV Competition. The new format started on Saturday, Nov 4th 2017 with 17 entrants. However, new entrants are welcome at any stage

Rules: Select six horses from any of the races in the UK or Ireland
Choose one to be your nap selection. NB if no nap is indicated it will be taken to be the first one posted, regardless of the time of the race

Your selection will, by default, be deemed to be a "win bet"
However, you may choose for any of your selections to go ew - if so please specify "ew"
Points will be gained based on the return to a £2 win at SP or a £1 ew at SP as applicable (Place odds are 1/4 odds 1st, 2nd, 3rd or 4th depending on the number of runners - see below)

The nap selection will score double points

NRs may be replaced at any time before the race start time. In the absence of a replacement the bet will be void (ie your stake will be "refunded")

For the purposes of this competition all place bets will be at 1/4 odds and will apply as follows:
4 runners or less No place betting allowed
5-7 runners 1st and 2nd one quarter the odds
    8+ runners 1st, 2nd and 3rd one quarter odds
Handicaps 16 or more runners 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th one quarter odds
    Handicaps 25 or more runners 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th one quarter odds
Number of runners for determining odds will be the number that came under starters orders regardless of whether or not they took part

NB Please do not edit selections. Any changes to be made by replying to original post. Thanks and good luck all

Re our exchange by PM, NDS. I require named horses but in this instance I will accept the above. The reason I need named horses is that I select the horse from the day's runners (which I have imported to my system) and it pre-fills all the other details. When I record results, the rest is automatic.
So, having to look at every selection AFTER the results are in is a bit of a pain. In fairness to all, I will allow this type of entry just once for every entrant, in special circumstances

PS. If there are joint/co favs I will take the one with the lowest race card No (usual practice in comps)

I know there's 'calling it afterwards', but isn't that pushing it a bit Ron, picking Friday's runners for Saturday's comp?.... Or have I missed something?

<laugh> I thought yesterday was Friday. I was thrown by the fact that I had to get up early this morning to take my grandson to football. For some reason they are playing today and they have gone in coaches to Lorient, which is 3hrs away in Brittany. After their game they go to watch the seniors, who are 4th in the second tier, playing the League leaders. Last year Lorient were in the top tier and managed to beat Paris Saint Germain 1-0 <yikes>. I think our U14 team could be in for a thrashing <laugh>. They get back get back at 1am Saturday.

I'll have to look again for my Saturday selections <doh>

Yep. Lost 6-2. We were winning 2-1 at half time but lost a key wing back and had to re-shuffle. Up against a very strong and very pacey team. The senior team drew with the League leaders but were all over them.

I'm tempted to take MY one chance to just select unnamed favs. I'm very sick with bronchitis that just won't shift, despite double antibiotics and steroids x 2 also. A cracked rib through violent coughing is just adding to my complications.
However right now I'm going through a relatively quiet spell, so I'll at least try to make some sort of effort :)

    Cheltenham
    2-00 Braqueur D'Or
2-35 Gumball (personal rant - really hope the spelling mistake doesn't win! A bit harsh as the animal isn't responsible but it winds me right up! PS - my own typos here are excused on health grounds :)
    3-10 Bigmartre
    3-45 Timeforben ew

    Don
1-45 Barbill (Use as substitute for any nr)

    Newb
    2-20 Communique
    2-50 Chairmanoftheboard NAP

Good luck all <ok> Back to the meds - :emoticon-0132-envy:
