Just another job for him. Let's face it, after his recent exploits he had to aim low. As someone succinctly said - "he was good for us but he was never one of us".
From the BBC comments section. 91. Posted byTrue Shrew What next for Paul Hurst, the one thing i do know is that he won't be coming back to Shrewsbury Town after the way he left us, on the other hand he did make us a lot of money by over paying for Toto Nsiala and Jon Nolan, but if you buy players from League One you end up with a League One team. Lambert has previous of proving this wrong (Fox, Pilkington, E Bennett etc) but he has more than 2 months before the next window opens - and then will need ££ backing from Evans. Unlikely, I'd say. Without said backing, he'll surely carry on the excellent work started by Paul Hurst?
Well as far as I’m concerned I hope PL gets dogs abuse when he comes to Carrow Road in February. A journeyman Manager who doesn’t really give a flying fcuk about the fans of the clubs he’s managed despite the sound bites. I no longer give a sh1t about his achievements with us, that’s ancient history and unlike the Binmen we don’t keep banging on about that. I really hope the f*****g Judas Cnut takes Towan down although I doubt he will. B@stard ! #rantover
Good column in which Dave Freezer uses Sergi Canos to highlight the different approach to integrating young players between Daniel Farke and Alex Neil. Never got it - never will. Why spend upwards of £8m on Alex Pritchard and then leave him out of the team / squad? Bloody insanity, AN. http://www.pinkun.com/norwich-city/...&utm_source=eshot&utm_campaign=newsletterlink
*Planet Zog alert!* 160. Posted byFLJ A lot of cheap shots at PL which is a shame. The truth is most managers have poor win ratios, only a handful at any one time are doing really well, and they won't come to Ipswich Town. He will do well to keep them from the drop, but I do agree he is probably not the person to take them on further. They could have tried to tempt a big name like John Terry, to give the fans a lift. At least JT hasn't got Stoke City's relegation on his cv
See, I don't agree with this. He gave, or at least master-minded 3 of the best seasons this club has ever known and nobody, nothing can take that away. In fact the money from promotion to the top flight probably helped keep the club afloat with only loose change available in the boardroom. Acrimonious departure for sure, but he certainly left the club in a better place than he found it Still hope he crashes and burns in his new gig but a raggle-taggle squad and a tight fisted, unapproachable owner should help!
vin Keegan@GalacticKeegan People think Paul Lambert is a bit of a misery but that man is all heart. I once texted him and got a reply instantly saying “Insufficient credit. Please top up your phone.” I hadn’t even noticed and yet he goes out of his way like that to let me know. Pure class.
Well, it's certainly got a good debate going and IMO, he was the right manager for NCFC, at the right time; but he was helped massively by GH and his leadership on the pitch. I certainly don't feel any ill will towards PL. What's the betting that Sky WILL be televising the next 'Old Farm Derby??'
Don't forget it wasn't Lambert that purchased Holt nor did he have anything to do with Hoolahan's purchase, nor a lot of other players that made him a sucessful Norwich manager. For me Holt played a key role in Lambert's success, not just in terms of his own performances, but also his leadership on and off the pitch. McNally was also as important in our sucess as Lambert, if not more so. Lambert achieved nothing by himself and I doubt without Holt or McNally he would have been anywhere near as sucessful as he was, which maybe explains why he had very little sucess once he left.
I also don't feel any ill will towards Lambert and agree that Holty was the major reason for his success with us. We survived in the PL in spite of going downhill badly in the second half of the season and he saw the writing on the wall. He left us like he left Colchester and I never really felt he was committed to the club, a feeling made even stronger after the slaggings he gave the club and the Chairman after leaving. What he does down there doesn't really interest me.
Yes, I forgot it was the fans who chose NOT to take their ST rebate that enabled Gunn to biy GH and I have to agree that it was the influence of McNally as well that drove the club to overachieve. I'll stop 'banging on about history' now!!
Lambert has signed a contract with them until summer 2021! That's an insane contract length! Of the 92 teams in the football league, only 20 have managers who have lasted that long, and only 12 of those are outside the Prem.
