I see Herculean is going to Donny on Friday but without old boy Ryan. Harry Bentley takes over. I wonder how many ‘Group horse in a handicap’ quotes will be attributed to Herculean between now and ‘tapes up’?!?

Meanwhile, Royal King has finally ‘got in’ a race on the same day and heads to Kempton Park for the ‘lucky last’. Sporting Life are currently forecasting 33’s.

Won easily. Pamper, a nice strong filly who appeared green in the paddock, is the one to follow other than winner.

    hi fellas!

    fontwell,2 15:

NEW MILENNIUM is still winless this season, but has run some nice races recently, and especially his last run in second has been boosted several times,so big shout today.

    worcester,2 25:

i take a chance on the improvement of GET RHYTHM today.was beaten a long way last time out,his seasonal debut, but this better ground could be,what he wants, and is only 2 lbr above his last winning mark.so,with a bit of progress, probably wont be far away here..

    worcester,3 00:

ALLELU ALLELUIA doesnt look as progressive as some other here, but his last time out third has been boosted by the first two afterwards, and is not too badly treated,so might still have more to give ofer fences..e w player..

Herculean is also entered in a better race at Newbury the following day but that Class 2 race sees him number 21 in the weights, whereas the class 3 at Doncaster has him as the top weight off a mark of 90.

Once considered a 2000 Guineas contender, that notion was quickly put to bed when Charlton said the horse would not come into his own until he was a 4YO, not ideal with the classics in mind. His absence is a concern, you would think that if he has been deemed well handicapped, he would have been out to try to bag a good pot before now.

Big Kitten is interesting in that Doncaster race on his first start for William Haggas. He landed an egg and spoon race easily in March for Mark Johnston but was not seen again afterwards. His opening win of the season was against trees but it was a promising start after three second place finishes last year. His final run of that season was a second place to Gronkowski and even allowing for Gronkowski winning easily it was still no disgrace in being beaten by a horse who would miss the Kentucky Derby due to a setback before being runner up to Justify in the Belmont Stakes.

Interesting to see the odds for that race, which has a lot more interest to it than a normal handicap of class 3 status at this time of year.

An interesting day's racing with 7 2yo races, with 5 of them full of unraced types. Pity it wasn't a bit warmer and the paddock being in the shade all afternoon didn't help.

Best performance of the day was Rainbow Heart, who could be a filly who could go right to the top next year. Best performance, maybe it was by a horse but Gerald Mosse winning 3 races with a combined winning distance of less than a neck (2 noses and a head) was pretty impressive. With Gerald's impressive Gallic snoz maybe it's not surprising.

I was also mighty impressed by his middle winner, Ginistrelli. A very impressive, in fact beautiful, colt. I'd think veteran Gerald must be getting excited that this relative of Fame and Glory and Legatissimo could be a Derby colt for this fine French jockey. Definitely the best-looking 2yo of the day, though his nearest opponent (and in the same race) Faylaq was pretty impressive too: one for the future.

Beckett's horses and especially his 2yos are running very consistently and well. In the big race of the day he had two runners who finished 1st and 2nd, and his unraced colt in the last was well backed and kept Ginistrelli on his toes. Skymax the winner of the £40,000 Nursery is definitely a gutsy colt, but so is Mark Johnston's Nayef Road. He could be a leading stayer next year.

Other than that I stand by my earlier comments and would add Balding's newcomer Bell Rock. A Kingman colt out of a half-sister to 1000G winner Speciosa could be a force at 8f next year if she goes the right way. Kingman could end up the leading Juddmonte sire at this rate.

Fair move for a Beckett juvenile filly at Doncaster tomorrow and has a lovely pedigree to boot. He has some decent yardsticks in the juvenile filly ranks to judge them on too!
