In the bigger picture, I think it's obscene that football is awash with money while some people have to juggle between heating and food just to survive. In the narrower context of football, as long as we're not in danger of bankruptcy, I don't care what we spend. There is no intrinsic value to a footballer anyway, and the figures might as well be Monopoly money.
£50m for someone to kick a ball about? It beggars belief really.
