Dickie Johnson looks to have a perfect opportunity to ride a four timer at Exeter today. Fourfold pays just over 3.5/1 which does seem ridiculously short but worth a few pounds to try and make my afternoon at work go that little quicker.

Just looked at the Cheltenham cards for Friday and Saturday and I note that the whole meet hasn’t got a single Listed or Graded heat. Seems strange. Instead of adding ridiculous ‘new’ races to the Festival, fawning all over minor Royals and commissioning inappropriate busts perhaps this is something that the Racecourse executive want to have a look at. Chop-chop, say I.

It’s not all bad news though, people, as they have got a ‘Pertemps Qualifier’ contained within the 2 days. More plots than an Agatha Christie novel and all that…

 

Could the old boy and champion bumper winner, who will be running over 3m for the first time be one of these?!?

 

Possibly, but given the horses quality you would have to imagine that connections would more have their eye on the Final rather than a humble Qualifier. Maybe a nice run round into something like 5th or 6th, a ratings reduction (from 142) and therefore an entry in the old Final would be the order of the day. I couldn’t see the benefit in him winning by 10 lengths and then getting hit by a huge hike in the figures if they are indeed aiming ultimately at the Final. Still with the Pipe’s anything is possible I suppose…

not much has gone right for KALIFOURCHON,since his last win 2 years ago,but thats reflected in his much reduced mark now,so i havnt given up the ghost on him,as hes still young enough.should go well here..

a similar story with THOMAS BLOSSOM here.has tumbled down in the ratings,and is a former winner of this race,even if his recent flat form isnt up to much.but his last run over hurdles in the spring,in 5th,has worked out quite well in the meantime,so surely not discounted today..

 

Gonna be having a nice slice of treacle tart for lunch on Friday . 10/10 wink,wink, say no more.
