First live game for a while. Obviously 2 struggling sides with limited targets/qualities.
Mushy start with Preston quicker to 2nd balls etc. City settled and started to get better possession and control. The strike from Burke was good. A full back getting there is positive. Martin should have scored, feeble header from somebody who should have that as a banker skill. He then 'chickened out' of shooting but laid the chance on a plate for Lichaj. Good again that a defender gets there but wrong man to finish that. I was happy enough after City settled.
2nd half was a bit similar with a couple of good strikes and hitting the post again. 2 up at that point would have been fair.

The substitutions. Preston made 3 and turned the game again. They were getting better possession and position. Adkins should have acted then to counter the problems and push on. City got a bit lucky with the pen but deserved it. It didnt changed the flow of the game at all but encouraged P to go for broke even more. The goal was not unexpected on the way the games was going.

City had just about deserved the win but the game management shows real lack of leadership. Adkins with poor response to P subs and daft subs at the end. Team leaders look few and far between. Batty is a nice footballer but needs some hard headed support not another nice footballer in Irvine. I like him but for me he disappeared in the 2nd half when we needed better control of the ball.
