Yes. which kinda contradicts their "Mohammed shall have no rivals" spiel. But Holy books are like that. The bible is worse
The no rivals is more about what he represents rather then worship of him in particular. In Islam Mohammed is the prime messenger of God so his teaching are what are important so can have no rival - he isn't worshipped like Jesus is in Christianity where Jesus is God as part of the holy Trinity. The whole thing about there being no pictures of Mohammed is a respect thing in that you cannot represent God or his messengers in one image so don't bother trying - as with everything to do with religion, people take that a bit too seriously now.
To be fair Mohammed took it seriously himself, when he had those two girls murdered for singing a derogatory song about him. He doesnt take any ****
There are hundreds of thousands of examples of that happening throughout history and that still happens now unfortunately - just heard on the news about a Millwall fan who was jailed for killing a Forest fan for chanting "West Ham" at him.
But was the Millwall fan a religious prophet whose teachings are followed by 1.5 billion people worldwide?
Well it depends on how you look at Jesus mate. In world religious stakes he is certainly a rival in the "object of worship" stakes to Mohammed. I understand he plays a big role in the Q'uran.
I'm pretty sure it says Muslims should respect Jews and Christians that are faithful to their respective reigions, its the faithless that are in for it, as they are in the bible.
Actually it says to never harm the innocent, but people who do not follow Islam can never be innocent, as they are oppressors who must be brutally torn down and subdued. Soon shall we cast terror into the hearts of the unbelievers......their abodes will be the fire - Surah 3:151 The bible has similar passages.
All religions borne of the Old Testament have statements like that - Judaism, Christianity and Islam.
i know. I wasnt trying to single out Islam. Most religious holy books are monstrous if taken literally.
The Bible is all blood and guts in the OT. And all peace and love in the NT. There's a legitimate quote for every option in the Bible, good or bad.
That really depends on your perspective, if you really believe people do things because of religion you're not understanding human nature, it's really just the excuse. If Christians, Muslims and Jews all followed their respective reigions to the letter, there would be no problems at all. Don't kill, don't steal, don't lie, don't cheat, don't get jealous.
But that only applies to people who follow the same religion as you. At least it does for Christians and muslims, I havent read enough Jewish scripture to comment.
