You are right SLB - I am wrong. I will shut up. I have always had the unfortunate nature to try to defend my opinions but you are correct - it helps nobody here

I personally think that this is a good site, but some people have made noises about whether or not we should have certain threads on the board when we have other threads already in existance concerning the same issue. I don't think it matters, if you think its important and might be of interest....stick it on!

I have not tried to wind you up at all. If i had im sure there are much easier ways to go about doing that. I know what you mean by the having to read all the posts, but we will all have to put up with things we dont like. No one can stop the luvvie chat and i for one think it makes the place feel more friendly and encourages people to post because you dont have to have an in depth knowledge of the sport, or have seen the match to tell us a story from your life. I do understand free speech and thats what started all this. People complaining about where posts were made. I was getting flak for leaving the Andi Wiemann thread open when there were discussions on other threads. I then defended myself and got more flak and sarcasm. I resorted to a thread about where we would post news to get my point across. My point is that threads will be started and things discussed, this person can not complain about it. That has been resolved now and i think the matter is closed. I then closed the thread (not deleted) because it was getting abusive again and i thought the point was made. If you really want i can open it again. I am no coward and i do not run from a confrontation.

I would like to know when myself and Norway have excessively moderated this forum. I have deleted things on owners requests only and have actually let things go, only for others to mention them and say maybe they should be removed.

I have not received any emails. Not on my personal account and not via PM. The last i got was asking me to send the PM on to your personal account because its easier.

You sent me an e-mail I sent a reply to that address (surname similar to London hotel the Langham yes) - do not know why you do not have it - I have sent it again but it is now really time for us to stop this and move on - we are annoying everyone else so I will not try to respond to your points - let's be friends and not argue

Good - because this particular thread had some good ideas early on. Particularly about a folder for non football matters.

Which brings me to say that in future I will be writing in Article form not thread form as that allows the 'story' to remain on the top of each page of comments I have discovered.

To be facetious and state the obvious.

    not606 is not 606.

Both have/had advantages over the other, but the BBC in its infinite wisdom decided journalistic overkill, soap operas or anything else was better than keeping a service which allowed the people who paid for the BBC to use. What we have now is something created by someone, thanks Mick, as a reaction to the BBC pulling the plug. It has now become our entity to mould as we wish, something that the BBC would never have sanctioned. Yes a few posters have gone; some are lamented, others not and we have gained new posters as well. I don't understand the need to use facebook type language, but if some want to use it so what; the Nest to me is the place for that sort of thing. I like the news thread and for a little more depth I can visit the other threads.

On a personal level I applaud the work that has been done to get not606 to where it is, from the people behind it through the moderators to the people who take time to write articles and I feel a more comfortable here as I don't need to mind what I say or how I say it. I know where to stop and I don't need the BBC pull me up a long way before I am PERCEIVED to have libeled someone

Also, 606 has gone and it isn't coming back. GET OVER IT.

Great post Zen. I have to agree that the BBC's decision to cut their online budget but then to pay the twat Robbie savage to give his opinion on a forum is ludicrous! I can probably count the Savage fans on one finger, and thats himself!

Um yes we are over it that doesnt mean we should accept people railroading a replacement down a certain route.

It seems there is an impass between the foreign/old hornets and everyone else.

My proposal is all threads are unstikied so they live or die according to usuage.

The arguments areallready scaring off people.

At least with the BBC we could ask to have comments removed that involved using the words "Savage", "finger", "himself" because of any unsavoury images that we may PERCEIVE from that. :emoticon-0119-puke:

How old do you have to be to be "an old Hornet"? :emoticon-0110-tongu

I actually quite like listening to Robbie Savage on 606; he has opinions, I may not agree but he generates feedback which that show is about and therefore he is serving his role in creating a debating forum. Is he a twat because you don't like his views? Then there are a lot of twats on here. The amount of followers he has on twitter shows he isnt in a fan club of one. y point is that this is everything that is wrong with football in this country (possibly the country); someone has a different view and they are slated. Combat rubbish views by highlighting why they are wrong and making a case as to why they are wrong. Anyone who dismisses someone's view so glibly loses their standing to criticise forcefully.

Roo I would love to let everything be unstickied and let the issues of the day rise to the top naturally , but as you have probably seen we are in a minority! So therefore have to live with it!

Bradleysdad I know what your saying , but for me that one has been and forever will be a prize pillock!

As ATR says, "How old do you have to be to be an old Hornet?" I have found that it depends not so much on your actual years so much as your attitude. My 9 year old grandson thinks that anyone over sixteen is old. Babyhornetdan came out with the statement a little while back, that his mother reckoned he was 18 going on 80. More a difference of experiences, background and view of the world maybe?

I also wonder what is a foriegn hornet? Clearly I am, as is Norway or NZ, but what about Wales, Scotland or even Jersey and Yorkshire. I think that those of us, who because of distance do not comment on what we have seen, but rather more on what we hear and read. It is appreciated when someone does go to see games and reports back. However we know very well that two people who have been, have seen the game in different ways and they may well be from the same age group.

I must admit, I'm not too fussed either way about stickies. They have their use if there aren't too many, such as the predictor league as I need the reminder of doing it, so being at the top all the time does help - but on the flip side, if it is a common enough thread, it should stay up there anyway. I guess something like the 'welcome to Not606' thread, that has had very little contribution, that won't stay at the top, but do we still want a welcome thread?

Very valid point Kev and I agree with you ,however there are those that want the welcome thread and again at this point they seem to be in the majority!
