03/10/2018 : In total contrast to last Season, when the game at Millwall was the unimportant prelude to more important matters, this match has become the indicator of whether AVFC under SB will be returning to those more important matters !

Being realistic.

Steve Bruce's League record at AVFC ... I thank him for his efforts, but he ran out of ideas. Only McAllister (5 games) and MON (152 games) have has a better records than SB. All the rest, apart from MON, are negative throughout, including Kevin MacDonald.

This result sees AVFC 14th, pending the result of the evening game today, with 15 points from 12 games and GD = 0 ... Update, Blackburn beat Bolton 1-0 which sees AVFC drop to 15th.
KMac did manage to reach par, but not as hoped, it is now played 7, points 7 ... and still only 5 points with Pts2.

That was a good start from an open positive display by AVFC, assisted by the positive open play of Swansea. I was expecting AVFC to score more than the one goal throughout the game. We had several chances and to be fair, Swansea had their chances too. Nevertheless I would have been very disappointed if we had not won this game. My MOTM was John McGinn (apart from his 68th minute 'conversion' into the Holte End !), 'never stopped putting himself about', to borrow AVF Member Corny's accurate description of his play.

From what I saw of the match (on-off stream), this is a setback which our play did not deserve.
We will win more than we lose with the attacking style that DS has brought to AVFC.

Just a quick observation on last nights game.
I thought your No 4 was outstanding at the back.
Grealish still flatters to decieve.He goes down to easily and his work rate is poor.If you can get £20 M + for him,unload and start building without him,as we have done after selling Maddison.Best of luck for remainder of the season

If this had been SB's team I would be worried, but I am not. This defeat was totally against the run of play. The lowest AVFC can drop to tomorrow is 18th.

29/10/2018 : After the false start, which I blame on the disruption caused by the poxy international break, I trust DS to send out the team on the first of a winning run.

The stream worked (!) and the play from AVFC was more like we expect from a DS side, attacking for most of the game and banishing the needless and negative square and back passing we had to endure under SB.
I will see the next match (AVFC v BCFC) live as I got my ticket in Upper Trinity Row A at half time.
The result tonight was well earned and lifts AVFC to 13th, pending the remaining games this weekend.

05/11/2018 : I think this match will end up honours even, but naturally I am hoping for 3 points for AVFC.

An excellent result for AVFC today. Going by the reports and the clips I have seen, it was an impressive display of attacking football. Postive vibes all round.

Attendance : 30,400 (SSN)

After this result AVFC's total Form Points rose from 60 to 65 ... that is, points after 46 games.
The maximum available is still 111 points, with 87 points left to play for.
AVFC returned to above par and are 11th in the table, with 24 points and GD at +4 from 17 games.
