TBF they didn't start many of those games & with the players bought in they will start even less had they stayed - exactly the same as Rangers bar possibly Bougherra although you bought in a few defenders who could have pushed him out if they are good enough
A few weeks ago we had too many players. Now we've bought as many as we've sold and we've not got enough???
You've just proved my point. We loaned 3 of those players out because they are not good enough for the squad - Maloney barely fit and didn't contribute enough and Freddy Ljungberg... Are you saying there is any player there we are going to miss?
Nice one... Don't deserve it but **** it, I'll take that! Must be a few free agents about that could help out in the SPL.
To be fair I liked him & think he was thrown in straight from the off & expected to waltz through the SPL. He played in a different league with different style of play. Ki was slowly given game time to adapt & we are now seeing the advantage of that. If Crosas had been given a match here & there & slowly bought into the first 11 we could be looking at a great player now.
Whether we get pumped or not, I'm glad we're back in it for the experience, and just to break up the league games a bit.
He would have been useful in a squad rotation situation... Those four for the bigger/tougher SPL games and games in Europe (now) when you needed to dig in. Crosas could have been used for more straightfoward SPL games and games where we needed someone to hold the ball/pick a pass...Europe at home.
Pud, there is just a chance that Lennon and his management staff watch Crocas closely in training and decided that he wasn't suited for the Celtic team and hence would not feature. That being the case it was the correct thing for both Crocas and Celtic that Crocas be moved on to another club. I appreciate by all accounts Crocas is a very nice young man and is still very fond of Celtic. Sentimentality does not win games and Crocas himself has been reported as saying that he knew after Samaras's two goals against Rangers he was more of a Celtic fan than a Celtic player.
My opinion on Crosas is that, my opinion! Obviously Lennon didn't rate him and decided to sell him (or maybe Lawell asked for him to be sold if not going to be a regular), however - I think Lennon made a mistake... again, this is my opinion! I rated Crosas and believe he was another option for the Celtic midfield - one we now need as we will probably have 6 additional (tough) matches to play!
Pud, I respect your opinion which of course you are entitled to have. I liked Crocas myself however I think he found it difficult to handle the frenetic pace of Scottish midfield football. I think Lennon watched him carefully and decided that although he had plenty of ability, he didn't adjust to Scottish Football and it wouldn't be fair on him to keep him at Celtic Park. Hard decisions have to be made and it shows Crocas wasn't bad or he wouldn't be at a Russian club.
