    Good Morning Everyone

Foxes midfielder Harvey Barnes came extremely close to joining Leeds on loan during the Summer; so close in fact, that he had already picked his squad number!

Messrs Hay and Urquhart were being interview on their podcast when asked which player he (Hay) would most like Leeds to sign from a current Championship club, Hay replied, “Easy, Harvey Barnes for me. It wasn’t much publicised over the summer but at one point Leeds were very close to doing that but he preferred the option of staying close to home.

    “That basically very nearly happened.”

Podcast co-host Joe Urquhart added, “He’d basically picked a squad number hadn’t he?”

“Yes,” replied Hay. “Essentially he was at Thorp Arch and ready to go… He was on his way for a medical.”

Last time I visited ER, last March, one thing that really surprised me was how very few black or asian fans there were.

We all know Leeds reputation of past, but surely in 2018 all of that is behind us!

    Thoughts?

Which other teams in the Championship would you like to see go up / down?

    Morning all :emoticon-0148-yes:

Barnes would have been great but think all sorts went on this Summer because we spent too much time trying to get Hernandez or Vydra and we were messed around because these 2 greedy twats kept us hanging on whilst they used us to inflate their wage demands elsewhere. I suppose we were also lucky we didnt pay any cash and sign Jerry as he's still without a club.

I see Ekuban has only played 24 minutes total football in Turkey, so obviously now worse than Billy Painter

This time last season the wheels were starting to come off and we were 7th on 20 points, so because we have battled for some draws we are 3 points better off as well as higher in the league. It does however show that we have squandered a lot of chances since both Bamford and Roofe have been out injured, Roberts is a kid still and we have plenty of other kids coming through but think we need an experienced striker to come in and help

    Good morning all
Agree with Doc on all the above, particularly the bit about, we need an experienced striker to come in and help.
Atm wer only 25% into the season and have time to recover the points, but what happens if we suddenly have similar injury problems having just played championship match fourty and very close to sealing an auto spot, lack of quality cover in the striker position could see us in the lottery of the play offs.

To answer one of Ellands questions
    To go up with us
possibly Sheff utd & Brentford as both playing good football (particularly Brentford) and doing it like us on a reasonable budget.
    To go down
Villa,Forrest and no not Millwall but Hull/Derby,in particular the first two as both spent obscene amounts of money to try & buy themselves out of this league.

Morning all. Agree with Doc. I remember only too well last season, when we started dropping points, some fans making excuses weekly. From, were out of top two but a few wins will see us ok, then were out of top six but a few wins will do the job, to dropping out of contention altogether. A serious run of wins will be required to get into a commanding top two position as eventually a couple of other teams up there will string five or six together. I suspect that will require extra personnel in January, whether theyre available or were willing to invest is anybodys guess

    Morning all...

To go up with us, I’d say ones least likely to succeed, teams like Sheff United, any team that would more than likely finish lower than us whilst we spend a season strengthening and adjusting.

To go up if we fail to, WBA and any other that we struggle against.

To go down Hull, simply because they hate us.

Morning all. Did they say what happened and why he didn’t sign. Was it just a case of the other club offering more money?

Good Morning to the sheriff and his faithful posse from an autumnal Bardsey where we have seasons of mist and mellow fruitful ness
Harvey Barnes would have been a great signing infact we should buy him!
as part of the trio I am still wracking my brain for the striker and CB You all know I wanted Dwight Gayle Olie Watkins maybe but I think we can wait to see how this Finnish lad progresses

    Ooh nooo I’m frit

All I’ll say is they are a London club and not QPR or Brentford. Apart from that I’m leaving it wide open to interpretation.

Common sense at last the bakery at the centre of the gay cake row have won their appeal at the Supreme Court in Ireland. Just putting it out there
    Just hate these international breaks

    Good morning Matt

I know an African Leeds fan who has been going to ER nearly as long as I have, he is sound as a pound & Leeds through & through

Also met our very own Gurj (MOT) recently at the Brum game, another top bloke who attends several Leeds games every season.

I personally don't think there is a problem, never noticed any racialism between our own fans

It is strange that ER is not as multicultural as say the London grounds. Bradford has a huge Asian population however last time I went to Valley Parade I didn't see many of the Asian community there

Glad to hear that Pontus has withdrawn from the Sweden squad as expected. He is with his wife who is expecting their daughter at any time, so this time he will come back fit at least

For those interested Lassoga so far has played 8 times scoring 5 goals and 1 assist

I don't think the amount of ethnic minorities at any ground is as big a percentage as the number per population.
Yet the number of young black players taking up the game, compared, is of a very high ratio. No idea why that is.

I have a friend of Indian origin who doesn't support a team, classes himself as an England supporter, haven't seen him in a while but last time I did, he was about 70 grounds through doing the 92, he told me the only time he had received any racial abuse was at St Andrews, which he didn't expect as they were known as a multi cultural set of fans, Zulus, when he had endured about 10 minutes of name calling, he turned around to look at the culprits and it was 2 black lads. He asked to be moved, which the stewards allowed, yet no action was taken against either of the bully's.

I’m not sure Roberts has been the problem, chances missed have been spread around the team... and by the time January comes we would certainly expect Roofe and hopefully Bamford back. Another striker would give us 4 in a system that only allows 1 to play... doesn’t sit with bielsa’s ‘2 plus a kid’ philosophy and leaves you a lot of players to keep happy.

For me the issue has been quality of chances created AND quality of finishing. Harrison has been hot and cold, alioski warm and cold. We’ve missed the finishing of Roofe and the decision making of Hernandez. Also, Saiz is a better player with Pablo in the side... it’s easier for the opposition to have a plan to stop one creative hub than two.

I think Roberts has done well... his first touch is terrific, his link up play pretty good, and he has a 50% strike rate. Not at all bad really, but granted you’d feel more confident of goals with Roofe up top.

BUT re comparisons to last year, we are not getting dominated by anybody. Half an hour against Swansea, periods against Brentford. If you consistently dominate the stats the results will come. We were over performing on converting chances at the start of the season it was never going to continue at that rate, it’s gone the other way now. That’s sport. Nothing to panic about.
