While looking at that 5.05 race, I only realized that Fallon’s son is now riding also. I see he’s had his first win already (last month) so wonder if he’ll turn out to be as successful as his old man !
Dear Sir Barney .... don’t like to ask but your frenzied missives today may indicate that your private chef has laced your lunch with some of that Colombian marching powder so readily available in your neck of the woods ? ..... just saying
Either that or the carrots were finally chopped to the correct thickness AND served with chipped potatoes?
hi fellas! a bit late here today, but hopefully, not too late for some winners.. galway,3 45: this features one of my favourite jumps horses, the ultra-consistent RASHAAN.he won a valuable novice chase here at the festival in august, and the ground should be fine too.also still unexposed over that trip,so has plenty going for him today..
I don’t have stew on a Tuesday anymore (not that that was laced with anything strong anyway). I think I’m quite calm today (that's just been confirmed by the nurse in fact) but really do think we need to introduce a forum catchphrase, people. When anyone, from now on, comes onto the thread with an ‘I’ve been told’ which doesn’t say who by or give a line of further description can we all type back with the words ‘Told by who?!?’ or should that be 'whom'?!? Incidentally, Todell’s response was absolutely brilliant, first class and all ‘I’ve been tolds’ should be like that - simply add onto it by whom you have been told. When that happens that is this forum at its best. But to simply say something along the lines of ‘I’ve been told…’ without further explanation isn’t good enough and to me, at any rate, leads to more questions than answers.
In the next at Catterick, Rose Crown looks massively overpriced at 50/1 and seems like a cracking ew bet to be had
Probably should give up now I've got one on the board but where's the fun in that: 5:10 Newcastle - Valkenburg 15/2 5:30 Leicester - Stanton Blue 11/2 Win singles and win double
My address book on my phone includes the numbers of four trainers, two Newmarket based head lads, two jockeys, many owners and a syndicate manager. Sir Barney can do one if he thinks I am giving him an explanation. If I say "I have heard" all that is telling you is that its not me guessing! You are lucky to get proper info passed on, as a few on here do. (not that I do much any more)
HAHA YEAH although I think only one wheelbarrow job failed in spectacular fashion! I probably shouldnt have put that post up and I do know where he is coming from but Jesus some people can be picky. The Don and I once passed round a piece of info for a jumper that was 28/1 and told everyone to back it each way. It bolted up! One of the people we told had a long rant at us as he would have won a heck of a lot more if his bet had been all on to win...go figure!
Apologies today guys, I guess that’s racing! Will continue to pass on any genuine snippets of info that I might get, that’s what the forums for right? I always look out for the posts of select members on here and doesn’t bother me if they state where the info comes from or not. I trust there judgement.
Stick, I think you replied in exactly the same manner when I’ve spoken about the ‘I’ve been told…’ posts on here in the past. I’m not for one second doubting either your or anyone else’s credentials (you have, of course, had your credentials stamped on here many times in the past). All I’m asking, and have ever asked, is that after the ‘I’ve been told’ the correspondent then gives an extra line saying who has ‘told’ them – just a few words will suffice. You don’t also have to give your mole / contact / insiders (delete as appropriate) vital statistics or inside leg measurement as well. I think by doing so it just adds to the posts worth. By merely saying ‘I’ve been told’ the correspondent raises more questions than answers. They are better than such a glib remark and the forum also deserves more. Incidentally, one further thing, it has also always been my view that how the horse fares following the passing on of the information is immaterial. The person has aired what has been ‘advised’ and it is now out of their hands. Also, the info could be of the highest quality and the horse have a stone in hand of the old boy handicapper only to be beaten by a rival 20 lbs better than their current perch! Your plot is bigger than my plot and all that.
