    Sorry for your loss mate.

    My dad worked as a milkman at the old Unigate depot near St James Park for decades.
    He also bought the Benny Hill single which he lent to Mick Channon (honest) and never got back.

    Right, Ides has set the ball rolling for 1987.

    I was still raking in the spondoolicks as a self employed Chippy and in the news there was the MS Herald of Free Enterprise ferry disaster, The Hungerford Massacre and the Great Autumn Storm Hurricane (Michael Fish anybody?). At Saints, there was a certain ungainly looking kid from Guernsey making a name for himself, having made his debut the previous October.

    Here is some of the music that I purchased...

    This track from the brilliant debut album from political Indie band McCarthy, I am a Wallet is just as relevant now as it was at the height of Thatcherism 31 years ago...

    Independant Record labels were springing up all over the place particularly in London, Scotland, Manchester and Bristol, where this band from Yeovil were signed to The Subway Organization..

    This Singer/Songwriter from The Bronx was definately up himself, but he was certainly talented also...

    Here’s my favourite song from the Dead’s 1987 album “In the Dark”. Jerry Garcia and his lyricist Robert Hunter both beginning to feel their age. This song has been covered by many people, notably Norma Waterson on her Mercury Award-winning album from 1996. It was sung at the last Grateful Dead concert just before Garcia’s death in 1995, at Soldier Field in Chicago.

    We were due to see this crowd at Birmingham this evening .
