This is just Ehabs way of spoiling Christmas - negotiations right up to Christmas Eve then he'll say he's decided not to sell.
The scrapping of the Away Day ticket scheme was Duffen's idea though. He said it was unfair to say some fans were more deserving of tickets than others. So people who had gone home and away during the lean years went in a ballot with others who had just discovered City. Or rediscovered them having conveniently had other priorities when we weren't doing well. Funny how other clubs ended up with all their away tickets going to people who stood up and got behind the team whilst so many of ours ended up with people who wanted to sit down and watch the other team as much as City and objected to others being too vocal or boisterous,
I bring this old stuff not reopen a discussion that has already taken place many times, but to pinpoint an event (one of several) that the club got wrong and where they took the wrong fork in the road. There is another massive fork in the road soon (hopefully), need to make sure the right direction is signposted to avoid ****ing up our club even further.
Not forgetting that any new owners would have to pass the FA I(how apt those letters are) fit and proper persons test which I think am I right has has been re assessed due to these ****s in charge at Hull City AFC and others.
It was actually the Allams who scrapped Away Direct, it was Duffen who scrapped guaranteed away tickets for corporate members and those schemes where fans who’d attended a certain amount of away games got priority.
As I said, complete myth. The Premier Club was heavily sold ahead of us being in the Premier League, in fact, until this season, the numbers have changed little since we moved into the KCOM and most of the people haven’t changed either. If anything, long standing prawn sandwich fans were pushed aside for new fans elsewhere in the ground, despite paying for the privilege of guaranteed away tickets (the four key selling points for the Premier Club were tickets for every home game, guaranteed tickets for away games, use of the lounge and car parking at the ground). I got tickets to every away game that season, other than Anfield and Old Trafford and that included trying to get tickets from sponsors and players.
We had corporate at Boothferry Park as well, it was a tent with pallets for flooring, but it was still corporate (neither actually had any prawn sandwiches).
Let's just hope things progress quickly because it's ****ing depressing supporting this club at present.
For a bonus point. In that episode of Porridge which was the football ground used in the final scene?
