Agree with Karlos, it has to be Waldgeist for me in the Arc (3:05).

In the Prix de l'Abbaye (4:25) will Dutch e/w on Tantheem and my dear old Finsbury Square. Maybe a crazy r/f too!

    Good luck!

Can’t make my mind up with the arc. I’m looking for a bit of value and as stick suggests , sea of class but other than that I might follow weavers selection hunting horn. One things for sure I’ll be backing sir dancelot in the floret. Mosse reckons he’s a group one horse and today could be his day.
    Cheers.

The Prix Marcel Boussac sees Charlie Appleby’s Ceratonia re-oppose Fabrice Chappet’s Rocques, who beat her over course and distance last time out. Is there any reason why that form should be reversed in another small field? Frankel filly Dubai Beauty would have to do markedly better than when a well beaten favourite on easy ground in the May Hill, a race won by Aidan O’Brien, who fields Camelot filly Pink Dogwood, victorious in a lowly maiden race on heavy ground at the third attempt. Will Moore try to steal this from the front?

The Prix Jean-Luc Lagardère looks very disappointing but surely Anodor was not so impressive last time over course and distance that he has scared everyone off. Are the big guns all waiting for the Dewhurst next week?

Rhododendron won the Prix de l’Opéra last year but I think she has her work cut out looking for a repeat as she has disappointed of late. Ryan Moore was not on her last year and it is hard to fancy his mount Magic Wand, second in the Prix Vermeille but well beaten on three runs on easy ground. Last year’s Prix Marcel Boussac winner WILD ILLUSION goes on any ground and showed this to be her ideal trip in the Nassau (Urban Fox second, Rhododendron last) and can get the better of Prix Rothschild winner With You.

Battaash is clearly the best horse in the Prix de l’Abbaye, won the race last year on quicker ground at Chantilly but has disappointed twice this term. Can he give a stone to Archie Watson’s juvenile Soldier’s Call? I think it could be tight.

The Prix de la Forêt appears to be packed with excuse horses with the exception of favourite Polydream, Freddie Head’s filly coming here after winning the Prix Maurice de Gheest beating three British trained runners of whom James Garfield is the only one re-opposing. She looks like the banker on the card as the Deauville race was a better quality field than today.

Having an all or nothing day today, normally nothing day. Done the 3 favs at Longchamp with Enable, Battash and Wild Illusion being my bankers in various double, trebles thrown in with a few from over here including Dotties Dilema, Vosnee Romanee and a few others. Enable all day long for me though.

I have to have a go through the card as I'm not going today and will have to watch on the TV
13.20. Rocques is fav and unbeaten but not convinced she's beaten much so I will try dutching two at bigger prices. Ceratonia, although beaten by the fav, is re-opposing and I doubt Appleby would come over if he didn't think she had improvement in her. Dubai Beauty won on debut then disappointed in the Mayhill.
1 point win Dubai Beauty 12/1
    1 point win Ceratonia 6/1

13.55 Royal Marine was good enough to see off the smart Turgenov (won yesterday) and 13/2 is too tempting
2 points win Royal Marine at 13/2

    15.05 Covered above

15.50 Wild Illusion. Ran well in the 2000 Gns over inadequate distance on fast ground. Doesn't quite stay the 12f in top company but seems much better over this distance. Lady Frankel was fast catching the first 2 in this race last year and may have been prep'd for this
2 points win Wild Illusion at 7/2
0.5 point win Lady Frankel at 10/1

16.25 On the ground, the 3 that stand out for me are Battaash, Tantheem and Soldier's Call. They have all run fast times on softish ground. Battaash carrying the same weight as his scintillating win last year, Tantheem has to carry 12lb more than when winning in very fast time on soft over 6f. That could weigh her down over what will be a quick 5f but should be running on. Soldier's Call ran a fast 5f at Chantilly to win unchallenged and carries 7lb less today
2 points win Battaash at 15/8
    2 points win Soldier's Call at 9/1

    17.00
1 point win Polydream at 15/8
0.5 point win Gustav Klimt at 5/1
0.5 point win Tornibush at 16/1

    17.30
1 point win Bayoun at 4/1

Anodor is short today but I felt that he and Persian King looked the two most impressive horses in France this season.

They were 1st and 2nd in their debut race where Anodor looked to have just that bit more toe over the 7F trip. Persian King struck me as the better long term prospect, a big son of Kingman with a slower gait but a much bigger stride on him.

Persian King dotted up in his next two races and is being considered for the Newmarket Guineas, with Andre Fabre declaring him as his best 2YO this season. I have wanted to back Persian King for the Guineas for a while but there were no odds but I managed to get 25/1 and am watching Anodor today as a guide to Persian King really.

Hannon's Boitron is interesting but it's a fair step up for him today. 4/1 each-way might appeal to some.

So much for concentrating on those who go well on soft. Should have stuck with my assertion the other day when I said I can't see the ground turning soft. Sun is shining here.

This will obviously improve the chances of Sea of Class in the Arc and Mabs Choice in the Abbaye but I won't change my selections and, I think decrease the chances of Battaash winning the Abbaye

Looking at the pictures on Racing UK, it does not look very crowded at Longchamp in the expensive areas. Perhaps everyone is sheltering in the new grandstand...

On the PMU, Waldgeist is under 5/1 (5.8) and Sea Of Class is just over 11/2 (6.7) with Enable nearly 6/4 (2.4) less than two hours before the off.

    hi fellas!

here are my first three verdicts for today:

    longchamp,1 55: PRIX LAGARDERE

BOITRON is,in my opinion,a top class horse in the making, given, how easily he won his races so far.this is another big step up,but he may well be up to it..

    uttoxeter,2 00:

LETS BE HAPPY hasnt shown much over hurdles so far,but has been in top form on the flat,so if able to translate it to this game, should go well in a weak race.definite e w value..

    2 30:

two horses here for me,ANOTHER FRONTIER and azure fly.both are very well treated now,and the latter has a good record fresh, and is on his last winning mark, but the twiston-davies inmate might hold sway today,as he was a honourable second to joe farrell last time out,and that horse won the scottish national later on.so,if ready today, should run a massive race..

    kelso,2 50:

open contest.CHOOKIE ROYALE won well last time out,and the form has been already franked twice since,so a good run very possible..

longchamp,3 05: PRIX DE L ARC DE TRIOMPHE

not a very original choice,i know, but i see no reason, why ENABLE cant pull it off again.very good draw, trip, ground etc all perfect,so why cant it happen again?
