There's no doubt you are right about that complacency.

I felt Moore and parry were bad, g&h worse and both let rafa do anything he wanted. fsg have spent at least 5 years bumbling about as well.

the club's I look to are Barca and Bayern. even real have the appropriate set up.

the board rooms are full.of football steeped men who run the club. not the commercial money men, not absentee landlords.

one mission, on goal, clear organisations structures, everyone pulling in one direction.

I am not looking forward to when klopp leaves finally. it is inevitable as night follows day and what then? can the guys running Anfield be trusted not to pull another Rodgers and the committee stunt?

umm the 3 you mention are are the 3 of the richest clubs in the world which makes it much easier to cover up the screw ups. Bayern for example just buy any challengers players to neuter the challenge and RM & Barca have an income miles above any other Spanish club.

I worry about what happens when Klopp leaves too. You'd hope the owners would have learned what is required to move the club forward (after all, success on the field enhances the club's commercial value) but who knows?
I think FSG have done a reasonable job given their prior lack of knowledge, or interest in, the game.
However, this is an example of what all us dinosaurs bemoan about football over the last few decades - it is now seen only in commercial terms and has led to far too much control being in the hands of people who see it only as a nice little earner rather than something they love and understand.

yes but perhaps we should wonder how they got to where they are as well. by being extremely well run over years upon years.

Bayern have exploited their position and ground all opposition into the dirt.

the reality is..... Liverpool was and should be England's Bayern. we were year upon year having our pick of players and had a dynasty going all the way back to shankly... we had the money, the position, the glory.

and David Moores especially let it wither on the vine. he did try a bit after but he never built the real hard nosed competance in the club, instead relying on managers to do everything.

before Gerrard, carragher and Owen we hadn't a player come through since the dalglish era (mcmanaman and redknapp then fowler) and since then..... really taa is the first.

now maybe I'm wrong and 3 a generation is great.

look at the difference in decision making on players under klopp. every player is wanted that is bought. every one fits the attitude needed. every one contributes. there's no speculative buying...
does that kind of record rest on klopp alone?

in any event Utd are the ones in the ****s now. they are the ones who are not pulling together and the ones wasting money and time buying crap and chasing glory.

I can't believe that Ferguson in his.prime would have looked at Pogba and all his antics and thought he is the one to lead his midfield..
mind you he looked at cantona and robbed him off Leeds.

when I look at it I see.

    tom werner. chairman... absentee landlord
    John Henry. part owner. disinterested.
mike gordon. the one really interested but the one nobody can quite say really.his actual role bar directpr.on the board and the go to guy.
Peter moores director and chief executive in charge of making money. the guy with the clearest reporting structure below him, hughe, hocan etc.
Kenny dalglish. the nice guy and there to be the face for the Americans. non executive director.
Michael edwards sporting director. and no Mark.

nobody seems.to be able.to say who's in charge of what then. academy run by inglethorpe etc.

plus think having had the Olympic stadium followed by a WC stadium provided for them (or at least a very large amount of dosh supplied from central coffers) may have helped cement their position.

    Bayern never had serious competition?

seriously... I reckon a quick Google.would show several times that he been in the doldrums and always come back.

you want to know when they've had to deal with a billionaire club? the answer to that is patently obvious. there hasn't been one.

but they have had a few bad periods where they have dropped back but only a few where it's once a decade as they always bounce back....

and why? cos they were well structured and used the resourced to put their.rivals.back on their arse.

if you are telling me that if they were badly run and threw money about they would an in exactly the same.place I would disagree.

We are i think merely arguing now over level of competition not the point I am trying to make which is they are the model of a well run club.

well run clubs win things. it's only.down to what you have said that Bayern get to win even more stuff.

    Pat Nevin on BBC

"Spurs had three corners in a row, the last one being played short which caused some confusion, the cross comes in and at first I thought it was Harry Kane. Turns out it's Eric Dier who reacts quickly with a great finish."

Sounds like it may well be worth the Klaim

Do wonder Howe long before he gets a top job. Plays very good football and lets be honest a League 1 or 2 sized club. Yet remains in the Premierleague and gives every team a go
