The big question of the day is.which one of O’Briens trio wins the sun chariot at hq .simples whichever one donacha rides currently 20/1. Don’t be put of by the price. Group 1 winner as a juvenile placed in the quineas this type normally come alive this time of year. Having said that any one of the three could win. Meanwhile over at ascot the dish of the day has to be ripp orf.
    Cheers.

I wouldn't rule out Wind Chimes in the Sun Chariot. She was my ante-post bet for the French Guineas this year and I remain convinced she would have won it had the race not been shifted to the other track at the course due to the ground being churned up on the inside track. She seemed to have slightly too much to do and being drawn wide on the outer track was more of an inconvenience than it would have been on the inside track, I feel she would have won it in a few more strides and my bet went down the pan.

Next time out Ryan Moore was on board and he didn't seem clued up at all, coming through far too late to challenge. Aidan's main man must have thought he was on Gleneagles that day.

Next time out her regular jockey Pierre-Charles Boudot was back on board and she hosed in by three and a half lengths. Although that was only a group 3 she looked good that day and it was her best performance on Racing Post Ratings so far.

Her latest run is the one that gives her a chance here though. Running against older opposition in the Group 1 Prix Moulin, she finished ahead of Michael Stoute's Expert Eye and was only caught late, to go down by a head to the year older Recoletos, who is a clear favourite for the Queen Elizabeth II race on Champions Day.

For me, that is the strongest form on offer here and Wind Chimes earned a new mark of 118, up 8 lbs, from the Racing Post, indicating that she may have more to come, given that she has improved with every race apart from the one when Moore was on board and left her way back.

Boudot is back on again and he knows her best. Andre Fabre doesn't usually waste trips to these shores and Wind Chimes is actually the highest rated on RPR's. Since it was confirmed she was standing her ground for the race, Wind Chimes has been best backed and 2/1 is the odds of reward now. Only Happily is being backed at bigger odds, while Laurens and the others are showing red across the boards.

Maybe her luck will change and I'll get my money back from the French Guineas. Other than the poor ride from Moore and the run on bottomless ground first time up, Wind Chimes has looked talented.

hi grendel, welcome to the fold , nice write up , wish you well , ryan moore sometimes seems to get things wrong on horses he doesn't know , surely he'll have been briefed , but it happens fairly regularly even on AoBs and other high profile trainers he rides for , too confident or misreading the race , either way , it costs the punter and the owner if the best outcome isn't forthcoming , in terms of performance i mean , not necessarily winning , but giving the horse the best opportunity.

    Thank you Rudebwoy.

I remember vividly when Ryan Moore rode Minding in the Oaks. I had missed the boat for the Guineas odds, so backed her for the Guineas/Oaks double at 8/1 instead. Feeling bullish after the Guineas, I recoiled in horror as he got into all sorts of trouble on the filly at Epsom.

My wife was unsure as I shouted "Her Class saved His Ass" at the TV when Minding got out and flew to claim them all. There would have been some Witch Hunt if Moore had got her beaten that day <devil>

    My arrows for today.
    3.15 New Billesdon Brook
    3.35 Asc Ripp Orf
    3.50 New Northernpowerhouse
    4.10 Asc Lucymai
Ew Lucky 15 and ew singles. Done the football Price Boost with Skybet. Spurs, Burnley and Boro to win 11/2, would only let me put £9.90 on. Not £20, not £10. £9.90 wtf. Thanks Mr Murdoch. Good luck all. Have a great weekend, apart from Rupert.

    Ascot 3.35pm

    Firmament 11/1 e.w 5 places

I think some softening of ground will help..has quite a good record in this race...dropping down the weights and good jockey booking. Good effort last time out..think he is ready to strike. Backed this horse twice this year at the wrong time.fingers crossed third time lucky!

Wind Chimes and Laurens are weak this morning. You can get 3/1 on the Fabre filly.

Clemmie has been backed but she has enough to prove for me on her efforts so far this season and has yet to win at the trip. Happily is another who looked better last season.

I had backed Veracious at 25/1 ante-post for the 1000 Guineas but she missed the race. It was galling to see her finish ahead of the winner Billesdon Brook on both occasions they later met. I would take Veracious in a match bet with Clemmie for sure.

Wind Chimes leads the tips box with 8 picks and Laurens has 4 tips, Clemmie and Veracious have one each, along with the Guineas heroine Billesdon Brook.

I'll go in again on Wind Chimes at 3/1 and take her to mow down Laurens in the closing stages.

My thinking too, and even if it doesn't soften up as much as we think Firmament is pretty versatile groundwise.

2.05 HQ, Indian Tygress looks to of got in off a very light weight, should win IMO.
2.45 Redders for Red Balloons, though Swissterious and Vintage Brut are dangers.
3.00 Asc, Limato can win like LTO at this grade again.
3.35 Asc, giving Cape Byron 3lb after beating him LTO at Gooders i feel Flaming Spear can pick him off late again.

Am leaving Ripp Orf alone after last week so good luck.

I am also leaving Flaming Spear alone in the same race. I note that they have put a claimer on him today (who subsequently goes to Newmarket for the 5:00), presumably because the runner-up from Goodwood is 3lb better off and re-opposing.

I am also leaving them both alone because I have been tipped the favourite Cape Byron, who was second to both of them on his last two outings but has a pull with them both today.

With the rain having got into the ground at Redcar, I am also told VINTAGE BRUT in the 2:45.

Two tips in two races that I would not normally touch... <doh>

Expecting a big run from my Almanac dark horse First Eleven in the Cumberland Lodge but won’t be betting.

    fontwell,2 15:

trainer gary moore has a fantastic record here over the years,so CHEQUE EN BLANC can be considered today, even if not as good over hurdles as some others here. good chance, theres more to come over fences..

True, and I didn't back it.

It's the 'you've been told' business that always rankles with me. I know it's probably jokey, but it gets on my thrippenies.
