Good Morning Everyone A host of Premiership clubs are hovering in anticipation should Kemar Roofe not put pen to paper and sign a new deal tying him to the club in the long term. Roofe's contract runs until the Summer of 2020. The 25 yo's representatives are keen to sit down with the club and discuss a way forward. Southampton, Burnley and Brighton have all shown an interest in the centre forward. Do agents / players have too much power these days? The Leeds Utd injury jynx continues! Yosuke Ideguchi - on loan at Greuther Furth, has also suffered a torn posterior cruciate ligament, the same injury as Bamford, and will be out at least until the New Year. Let's not also forget O'Kane broke his leg last month (fractured tibia and fibula) which will keep the Eire International on the sidelines for the rest of the season. We will hear about the extent of Barry Douglas's muscle injury today! My guess is, he'll be out for 3-4 weeks. If all Leeds players were fit, what would be your starting XI?
Morning all.. If Roofe doesn’t sign a new contract then the club should keep it quiet and tell him they’ll sit down and talk at the end of the season. Make it 100% clear he isn’t going anywhere come January. If we don’t get promoted then we will have a player with 12 months still on his contract, however we WILL get promoted so if he doesn’t sign who cares, we’ll be in the premier league loads of cash and as a PL player he’ll be worth more
Morning Ell, agents shall be the ruin of football, they are greedy, manipulative and mislead the players they represent, the FA are to blame allowing it. Wouldn’t worry too much about those teams interested in Roofe, a couple or maybe all of them could well be on the Championship next season. Douglas is a disappointment but we have cover in Pearce, not Dallas!! we need him further up the field to replace my favourite waste of time Alioski, Morning to all .
Good morning Matt & everyone Yes agents have far too much power these days. It's no surprise prem clubs are looking at Roofe bearing in mind the scintillating form he was in before his injury, he won't be the only one being monitored by other clubs which could be a major concern for us come January please log in to view this image
Key question is will the likes of Roofe, Cooper, Berardi, Phillips, etc who have all significantly improved be as good under a less quality coach
The other concern is money talks so our players could earn twice or three times as much & go play golf in the afternoon Right now they are working all day for less money & on cleaning duties too !
Good Morning to the Sheriff and his posse from a dull Bardsey I think everyone is forgetting the Bielsa effect. These players thanks to him have suddenly become much better players why would they want to leave him knowing full well that we have a chance to get promotion very soon I don't think Huth will be signed he will want to much money and is to old for me I like the look of Barnes at WBA now he would be worth getting and Dack
Or instead of sitting on the bench in the PL they may, if offered more money here, want to stay at Leeds for another year and play under the best coach in the country, knowing that promotion would be virtually guaranteed next season Assuming Bielsa and his coaching team stay beyond this season of course Then again we’re going up this season so not a problem
Morning ristac, I think a lot of it will come down to Roofe's expectations whether Leeds will go up or not. There are not too many Managers even in the Prem would have Bielsa's kudos.
Mornin' I'm sure he and the club will be happy to sit down and create a new deal - which will work for both player and club - so he gets more money in the mean time and we get more leverage for selling him as he's on a longer contact if we don't get to the premiership and they come sniffing. Do agents/players have too much power is a Canute like statement - they may well do but like any other work place affected by supply and demand there's very little you can do about it and I prefer it to the days when the clubs held all the power. If all Leeds players were fit then my starting XI would be exactly the same as Bielsa's starting XI and I'll tell you what it is about 2 minutes after he's told us.....
Morning all. I understand the basis for everyone's pessimism regarding the chance of players staying/leaving based on recent history. I however cannot get past the fact that we are different this season. From the top to the bottom we are a much better run club. If we do not want to sell players than we wont, I know money talks but the riches of the Premier League will counter that. Also, if Biesla does not want a player to go then I believe that is end of discussion. If Biesla wants you, you stay, if he doesnt then you are gone.
Agree with second part of statement. Re the first part, offer him and agent 40k a week to sit on PL bench if were not promoted and see how quick hell be gone. #likeashotoutofagun
Morning Leon, I think Bielsa has got everything out of the players that they are capable of. If they leave for another club, it is unlikely the player will be able to replicate how well they are playing at the moment.
