Rollercoaster - fairplay for fessing up, I don't see why you couldn't just add the above to the thread in the first place though and let us know of your concerns regards the direction you thought the thread was heading, maybe you thought it would attract critism, if this is the case then it is a shame as thats exactly whats the forum is for - airing your opinion and if you don't feel able to do this on the forum rather then PM the mod then something is wrong. As a fairly earlier adopter of not 606, i remember the unmodded early days and don't want this forum to change, and become a place where censorship becomes the norm, our mods are great and i would not want them put under pressure by other 606 users to mod any more than is absolutely necessary. Asking them to anticipate what might be said would seem a strange way of modding to me, on this basis we should close down the site now because someone is bound to post something very offensive any minute - have you seen some of the other boards? Dealing with it after the event is the only way possible isn't it? Maybe i am wrong and maybe i have to accept that as not 606 grows and more posters join, more posters will become offended and more modding is inevitable, personally i find it irritating as it generally spoils the enjoyment of a forum, twins is right the modding on not606 is nothing like the old 606 and i would hate for it to take even one step down the path that 606 ended up. I would prefer users of the forum take a degree of responsibility for what they choose to read and exercise their mouse and eyes, if you find somethig offensive stop reading it and being offended and do something else...don't winge and moan to the mods unless it really is illegal, defamatory, racist or seriously threatening I dont want to speak for sooperhoop either but his comment said, if there's any justice he'll get his leg broken, which is slightly different to wishing he gets his leg broken because as we all know there is no justice in this world... Even if he wishes he does break his leg - that's his opinion If you think this is unreasonable and represents 'joining him in the sewers' - fair enough thats your opinion. I don't see why i can't happily read both on this forum, for me this is not even close to needing a review from the mods. - which i'll think you'll find is my opinion.
But I'm not that point of least resistance, minimalistic sort of bloke Roller. Wouldn't know what a quiet life was if you parked me west of Listowel with nothing to do but monitor Ciarrai! Whilst we all have one thing in common (URRRsss!) on here, the quality of interactions is based on the fact that we're not all cut from the same cloth. You saw things one way, others another and I'm there to accommodate / respond to whatever arises.
I think alarm bells were ringing early on in the thread for a few but it almost moderated itself (with guidance from Brix and the ensuing debate) and definitely got less passioned as a result. I appreciate your input into this one as much as anyone's and encourage your morally upstanding posts - not everyone will agree on where the line is that could be crossed but I for one love the ethical debates and you may find a few allies along the way. Diouf is still an arrogant waster though...
Couldn't care less what other people think. Diouf is a ****ing low life scum sucking **** of an excuse for a man. I would welcome the opportunity to kick 7 shades of **** out of him. He must be the ****iest **** of all ****ing time!!! What a ****ing ****!
From Matt "Just wondering, is there an age limit on here? If under 18s then cautionary words are welcome as to the progression to the thread." No one has answered Matt on this and he does raise an important point, is this an adults forum or not? I would hate to think there are 10 year olds out there reading some of the stuff i write.. can someone clarify?
That AND a very nasty piece of work with few if any redeeming features. 'Sewer rat', as Warnock put it, was and is about the mark. Probably the worst role model for impressionable youth there could be. How long was Diouf in Glasgow before he helped cause another round of sectarian bollocks? [Ah! got that off me chest at last. That feels better!]
Shefford - you just broke my swear filter and i'm not sure your making the best case for freedom of expression, but i guess this your opinion so fair enough. This thread is turning into a disaster - next week i'm going to start the thread 'Suggestions on where Gary Neville can stick his electronic pen thingy' i think this will go much better.
Don't call it a pen - implies the fuzzy faced imbecile knows how to write... ...how about electronic crayola?
I didn't respond to Matt's question because I considered it was probably rhetorical. Fact is we're not asked for our age when we join up and I doubt not606 comes up on the 'parental control' radar. But didn't we all grow up on the terraces with adults swearing and abusing players and opposing fans? S'pose that's football really... Never done me any *<!XX^O$[]XX harm did it?
Wasn't rhetorical at the time but probably irrelevant anyway. Most teens have better things to do than following discussions about business plans of owners trying to sell clubs....
Learning about the influence of existentialism, favoured by the philosophers Kierkegaard and Nietzsche, on current teen culture. (In other words they follow Joey on Twitter,)
Cannock, I wouldn't have called it a confession, but that is probably just semantics. The only reason I didnât put up a message myself this morning was that I didnât have time. I thought the next best thing was to ensure that someone had their eye on the thread. I dare say that both of our mods were on the case anyway, but I donât like leaving things to chance. While Brixtonâs comments were as a result of my PM, that was not my objective, nor what I expected. As for being scared of criticism, have you read my posts? I expressed concern about Faurlinâs form pre-season, and then was, I believe, the first to say I still donât want Barton at my club after he had been signed. If I was trying to avoid criticism, I wouldnât have trod either of those paths. Maybe the standards I try to uphold, and try to instil in those around me are not suitable for a football forum, but that wonât stop me trying. I offer no apology for that either. I still refure to pray in the Temple of Joey Barton, and will do my damnedest to ensure that no one around me stoops to the sewers occupied by Diouf.
Joining this one late, I actually think it's a good thread, it's a 'sit round the table and get to know each other' thread. Good bunch of brains out there.
See,didn't do anyone any harm to get these views across did it?Lots of different opinions about how we should act on this forum, bringing us all closer together, and all down to Diouf, who'd have thought it?By the way Brix you ain't doing a bad job buddy, you and Northy do a sterling job, keep it up.
Thanks Hammer. Always good to talk mate. The idea should be that we all mod this board together... me and North ain't the leaders (well North must be really since he influenced so many of us to come on to this site), we just happen to have the buttons that make things disappear! Looking forward to the next meeting of the Diouf Committee! (All Rs welcolme!)
