He was absolutely awful and the Argentinians really dont like him especially compared to Maradonna. If he was so wonderful he would have surely been a lot better and its not as if Argentina dont have good players! Everyone here keeps on saying Im wrong but cant find any reason to prove it. Im right, you have no answer to why Messi was so dreadful at the copa america and constantly underachieves for Argentina.
Argentina lack a midfield at the moment. They've had some fantastic playmakers in the past - Cambiasso, Veron, Riquelme, D'Allesandro but they're finding it hard to replace that generation. This new generation instead keeps producing fantastic strikers, which isn't what they need. So unfortunately, until they can get new players like Pastore, Alvarez and Banega playing well and find a system to incorporate Messi, then they won't get the best out of him.
I thought Messi was meant to be the worlds best player. Surely he should be good enough to be inspirational and be a one man team like Maradonna. Everyone bums him so much but forgets that for his country he is gash. Saying he is the best ever and better than the likes of Zidane, Pele, Best, Maradonna, Cruyff, fat Ronaldo is a disgrace.
