Christ, we've had one bad season in the last ten years and now the sky is falling in. I want the club to do the best it can but let's have a bit of perspective here please, we are nowhere near the basket case the club became in the latter Rupert Lowe years. I believe that the board made a big mistake in sacking Puel and with him still here and this squad we would still be a top ten team. We are better under Hughes than Pellegrino and we are competitive but there are a few defensive things to be ironed out still. Hughes will still be here unless things get progressively worse (which i've seen no evidence of in our play so far) so there's no point in bitching at this time, let's just have some patience and see what happens. Cortese, Poch and Koeman have gone so we have returned to being the kind of club we have been for most of my Saints supporting life a top division also ran and I can live with that.
Ha, listening to the commentary it sounded like we got away with a lot of fouls rather than not committing them. Not that I care, I'd rather have it this way than the other
A penalty win will be great for the lads confidence. Mental strength has been in short supply recently and thats as high pressure as it gets.
Do you mean Silva turned us down ? I work with a Toffee, and the jury is very much out on Silva from their perspective. And did he not leave Watford under a cloud ? Careful what we wish for sometimes.
Exactimento ! We are Southampton FC ffs, its not meant to be easy, never has been. Like many football supporters some of the opinions etc you read on this and other fan sites make you shake your head in wonderment. St Godders appears to be an older supporter like me so he must have seen it all with Saints but he is one of life's moaners and i for one take his posts with a big pinch of salt. But we are all Saints supporters and we all have different ways of showing our emotions. Me, im the eternal optimist - most of the time, although i used to lose it with Branfoot when he wouldnt pick Matt Le Tiss. Really looking forward to Sunday now, not expecting too much but i think last night will have done our squad the world of good.
Just watched the pens on some rubbish youtuby thing. Gunn's save was good but also impressed by Cedric smacking in with the pressure on. I also liked the way Everton fans started leaving after Gunn's save.
Wahoo we won! Good job it went straight to penalties as chances are we would have lost it in extra time. Hopefully winning that game will give the players some confidence to push on and pick up some points in the league.
