I dont love him, i hate him as much as you guys do, but now i have your attention, read this:

IT was a transfer window that promised so much.

After all, Newcastle United had £35m to “reinvest” in the team.

And the one player the club’s supporters wanted was a player capable of wearing the revered No9 jersey.

Yet that was the one player that didn’t arrive.

The transfer deadline came 212 days after Andy Carroll left St James’s Park for Liverpool.

Enough time, surely to line up a replacement?

Apparently not, and that won’t play well off the field.

And fans have every right to feel let down by the club this morning as the dust settles on the club’s transfer business.

Alan Pardew asked supporters to judge his dealings on September 1.

That’s today, and the judgement, for all the good work early in the window, will be harsh given the lack of a striker.

Pardew, of course, wasn’t involved in negotiations, yet he, and he alone, will have to answer the awkward questions given the lack of accountability in the corridors of power at St James’s Park.

Admittedly, the club did good business in the early part of the summer. Yohan Cabaye, Demba Ba, Gabriel Obertan, Sylvain Marveaux and Rob Elliot signed for Newcastle, while Medhi Abeid also arrived.

Cabaye, certainly, looks the part. Possessing quick feet and a quicker mind, the 25-year-old’s already impressed in the opening three Premier League games.

Gabriel Obertan has shown glimpses of his potential, though the winger still has it all to prove after two frustrating years at Manchester United.

Striker Ba should get into his stride after the end of Ramadan, while midfielders Marveaux and Abeid, initially signed as one for the future, but clearly one for the present as well, look to have bright prospects.

And Davide Santon, a full-back, has excited fans, having been a Jose Mourinho protégé at Inter Milan.

So that’s six arrivals, but is the squad any stronger than it was a year ago, when then manager Chris Hughton had the experience of Andy Carroll, Kevin Nolan, Joey Barton and Jose Enrique in his squad?

Enrique used social networking site Twitter to claim that the club would “never fight for top six” with its present transfer policy a couple of weeks before his departure.

And Barton’s tweets last night made interesting reading, with one message saying: “Nice to see MA (Mike Ashley) and DL (Derek Llambias) come through with their promise to reinvest AC (Andy Carroll) money, 59m net profit from transfers in last five windows.”

The figures are hard to quantify given that most fees, incoming and outgoing, have been undisclosed.

But in the previous three seasons, Newcastle have made an estimated profit on transfers of in excess of £50m, and the net spend in this window is a reported £600,000.

Ideally, owner, Mike Ashley, and managing director, Derek Llambias, would field the questions that need answering.

Unfortunately for Pardew, that unenviable task will inevitably fall to him. Ashley – who has ultimate control of the club’s transfer policy – has never spoken publicly, while Llambias rarely, if ever, takes questions.

So Pardew – who craved a striker as much as the fans – is left to explain just why Carroll hasn’t been replaced eight months after his departure.

    And that can’t be right.....

Agreed with your post in the entirety of it... the biggest problem are the empty promises made by the board to the fans...You come forward and say to spend the cash next window, and repeatedly tell us you're working on ur targets and what do we know even on the last day? can't even out-offer fulham??

    Based on the title.

Be afraid. Be very afraid. She's got dementia and can't recall how many bullets she's fired already... punk.

As for me and the rest of the article:

I never expected a No. 9 to be signed. I just hoped for another striker to bolster the front line but in no-way did I expect a 20+ goal a year idol to sign.

The club need to get one next window.

Now, onto QPR and back the team because we've got a decent squad.
