I think if Poch honestly felt he couldn't eventually win stuff with us, he wouldn't have signed the new contract a few months back. It wouldn't make sense for him to essentially settle with standing still at a time where his stock is relatively high. If he saw no possible progression with us, he could've easily resigned/ announced his intention to leave and likely got the Real job once Zidane left.

Don't think his rep will change much if he were to go Utd right now as he'll need a couple years worth of rebuilding. As I've said previously, he's put himself in the position where his next step as a manager is to win things, not go back and rebuild/ improve another club, he's done that with Espanyol, Saints and now us, should he leave Spurs anytime soon, his next move has to be a side already primed to challenge for titles and trophies, otherwise it's essentially sidewards/ backwards step.

United is still a huge step up from Spurs, regardless of finishing above them for 2 seasons.

  9. It’s nothing to do with what Bod did or didn’t write on this board. It’s about Mourhino sniggering like a snide on National TV.

In terms of stature of course, they're miles bigger than us but in terms of progression as a manager, it's not a forward step for him - unless he hit jackpot with them in his first season which is unlikely in my opinion.

Utd are nowhere near City's level, while Chelsea and Pool have also gone up a notch from last season. There's likely a solid three-year rebuilding period needed at Utd before they can start getting back to title winning form. For me, that's too long for Poch to wait, he may as well just stick with Spurs when considering that timespan. That's why I think it's sidewards step for him right now, to have rebuilt and improved Spurs over the process of four years then leave and repeat the process with Utd just doesn't make sense to me.

  11. I don’t think it is.

It used to be, but not any more.

We are on the brink of greatness, and Poch wants to be at the helm when it happens.

As for United, I predicted a while back that that club will reside in Fergie’s shadow for a very long time. People so quickly forget that the only reason why United dominated the modern game is because of him.

I disagree, they've got a deeper/better squad and are less likely to have to sell players. All this talk of 3 years rebuilding is nonsense imo. He was also taking you from a lower starting point than he will be them (presumably!).

He will know too that the man who delivers the first post Fergie title will become a bit of legend up there.

Nonsense, you've had your golden period and it will go tits up over the next year or so.

If they win it this season, which they probably will, they’ll find a way to get that fat headed mong a lift of the trophy as if he helped.

I don't think they have a better squad. In terms of XIs, their keeper and centre midfield are better, while we best them with defence, attacking midfield and striker. Going into depth it's relatively even, both sides lack a good backup striker but have a few good squad players elsewhere, although nowhere near as many as the likes of City, or even Chelsea.

The starting point you mention is irrelevant when you consider the gap in quality between Utd and City, it's probably the furthest it's ever been in City's favour and while Pep is there and being bankrolled by Mansour, I don't see that changing, regardless of who manages Utd, whether that be Poch or someone else.

Pep and City won't go on a long period of dominance imo, they'll win it again this year and then he'll leave end of next I reckon.

I dunno, Pep did mention he was looking to stay at City long term, could be bollocks of course (although he did sign a new deal) but realistically where would he go if he left? He's 'completed' Spain and Germany, while I don't think Ligue 1 or Serie A are big enough for him, they're the weakest leagues out of Europe's top five. This City side has the potential to go on a spell of dominance, not saying Fergie level dominance but a spell that could see the title in the blue end of Manchester for a number of years.
