I would hazard a guess that some of the same people who are now asking for Holloway to come back were slagging him off for his awful team selection and poor results. For the record I was one of those people and NO, I do not want him back.
Plenty of people on here said the same and have said the same today yet you single me out? Stop cross-pollinating threads. Get over it.
Same as Staines How many good cup runs did we have under him? None. People forget those 6 losses on the trot or the humiliating games with stupid team selections and substitutions. Hollow is old news we need to look forward. However I am also one who wanted Hayling Island head because I believed he would be better coaching the younger players but he is proving me wrong in that department as well. He really needs a performance at Reading.
Fair point. I doubt he'd want to come back anyway. However who do we want? Reality is that the only two managers who have had any real success in the last 20 years or so (I'm ignoring Redknapp because we made absolutely no progress over his tenure while he and his 'boys' made millions in the process) are Holloway and Warnock and there are plenty on here who do not want either of them. Also the club has now shafted both of them twice.
I was one of those. People can be wrong or can change their minds based on hindsight. I certainly wouldn't want Olly back
As you say plenty of people who said the same. But you were the most vociferous . It's your way. You dominate every thread you post on and ridicule those who disagree with you so man up
I also thought Steve was a decent appointment. I was wrong. However, although I could stomach Ollie returning whilst the transfer embargo is in place, I don't think either of them are the answer.
What on earth has happened ? We were good against Millwall. So consistently inconsistent. Bottom of form league after first four games top after next four games and now 5hit again.
To be honest I don’t know who I want or who would be a ‘good fit’ for our team. All I know is that I was massively underwhelmed when McClaren came it and I was one of the ones who was glad to get rid of Holloway, as however much people look back with rose coloured specs, we were **** under him. I’m really at a loss with it all.
Well that's crap because I agree with many posters on here on many threads and when I have been wrong I am man enough to admit it and on occasions have sent apologies. Your problem, and you have proved you have one, is that you cannot differentiate between threads and carry on something that I have said somewhere else. Now I am sorry I probably made you look a muppet on the politics thread but move on fella. It has nothing to do with this thread.
He keeps 'tinkering'. Eze looked class against Millwall and Scteev seems to be ruining confidence of players.
I said after the Millwall game that I was warming to McClaren. I now take that back - it seems that great performance and well fitting formation were borne out of nothing more than Hemed fasting. Unless one of our front two (I say ours but the reality is that over a third of our first choice side is on loan - great coaching indeed) gets injured or goes on hunger strike then we will be subjected to this awkward 442 and the same team and tactics (barring a run out in January for the rejected players that never get a look in otherwise). Any manager from league one or below would see some appeal in coming to us. No more "big name" managers please. If they were good then they'd have jobs already.
I go back to the opening game of the season away at Preston. I said then, that we needed 5/6 better players to compete at this level. I still think that despite Rangel, wells and hemed. Add into the equation yet another manager totally setting his team up wrong with low calibre players, then it's a recipe for disaster.
TBH I’d take Big Sam on a deal to the end of the season. Like Warnock, he’d get them organised at least, particularly the defence. Might not be the best serving of football, but look at the utter ****e we’ve had under a succession of prats.
A) We couldn't afford Big Sam B) A Premier League team will snap him up by the end of October offering a £1 million bonus to keep them up...
