How can a straight red end up as one match.

either its 3 for the offence or there was no offence and it is rescinded.

Uefa have slide-rule punishments based on who it is being punished, what club he plays for and if they'll lose money by dishing out the maximum punishment.
No doubt another not so high profile player from a not so high profile club will get a straight red in the next round of matches and get a three game ban, Uefa are rotten to the core.
