Just seen the goals on Sky, very poor keeping on the first, the second, poor keeping, both should have been saved but it’s our first defeat, still missing Roofe, Berardi and Pablo who are first choices. No need to panic, we were never going to go the season unbeaten in the league but now we do need to bounce back with back to back wins if we can.
Fair comment as long as we do bounce back. Let's hope BPF learns, in fact everyone needs to learn from this. Other managers will be watching replays of the game "how to beat Leeds. We need to learn how to get through a tight defence without leaving ourselves wide open to the counter. Over to you Mr Bielsa Sir.
Just seen the goals. Yeh, bpf will be disappointed with both. Not excusing but just looking for reasons. He was unsighted for the first... the guy looked like he was aiming for the other corner and hooked it. Bpf moves in the wrong direction and couldn’t get back across. Second.. again the shot goes through a players legs, he’s late reacting to it. He’s done well this year. Let’s hope his confidence is intact and he puts in a performance on Friday.
Sorry milky. They were both howlers and I was sat close to both scorers when they shot. Harmless efforts that I would have saved. However as you said hopefully he’s not affected
Well folks it was just one of those days when we just wasn't at the races. Two soft goals in the first 30 minutes more or less sealed our fate as we struggled to develop any rhythm with far too many passes going astray with the fluency of our usual play disrupted by a dogged Brum team intent on spending 60 minutes of the game wasting time, players in rotation falling over at will feigning injury, keeper moving the ball to the other side of the goal & taking an age on a goal-kick, deliberation on every throw-in, substitutions & stoppage in play, gamesmanship at it's very worst. Also the referee was also far too petty & he didn't deal with Brum's tedious tactics adequately enough imo which made for a scruffy awful game, at least he got something right by adding on eight minutes of added-on-time. Only surprise for me was we scored as it looked like we wouldn't hit the net if we played all night We moved on to the next game at Hillsborough & I expect to see a bounce-back effect after today's blip. 4 Peacock-Farrell 5 Ayling 7 Jansson MOTM 7 Cooper 5 Douglas 4 Phillips 5 Harrison 6 Klich 6 Saiz 6 Alioski 7 Roberts 7 Dallas 5 Edmondson 5 Forshaw
We have a true leader "The proposal I chose for this game at the beginning was not the right one. We could not make the link between defence and attack because Phillips could not receive the ball. Phillips had to assume the consequences for the mistake I made. When I corrected the mistake, the rival had already scored two goals. It is a high price to pay for a tactical mistake." It's a team game, the team lost, roll on Friday
I said a while back BPF's indecisiveness and being out of position are going to cost us goals, there'll be more in future, hopefully none, or not too many.
Like I said I was looking for reasons not excuses. I think he should have saved both too. But he was Almost certainly unsighted for the first and guessed, from the guys body shape. The Second he seemed to dive late for, presumably he therefore saw it late. There were other contributing factors to the goals. The first, one guy (not sure who) closing down rushes in and falls over, and then Pontus doesn’t close down just invites him on to shoot. The second, Kalvin Pirlo gives the ball away and then sells himself. Douglas then gets done (not for the first time). Poor goals allround defensively... but ultimately should bpf be saving them? Yes.
[QUOTE="LeedsLover, post: 12145593, member: 1030989"there'll be more in future, hopefully none.[/QUOTE] So that’s definitely a maybe He’s made mistakes here, and there have been a couple with question marks over the season. In other games he’s done really well. People seem to decide he’s rubbish or a world beater. Reality is he’s a talented young inexperienced keeper and he will make mistakes. Actually older talented experienced keepers continue to make mistakes too... we have benefited from mistakes from krul and butland this season. It’s an occupational hazard. If bielsa has decided he’s first choice, then we need to get behind him as the Twitter warriors do no players confidence any good. As for you pointing out his positional sense and indecisiveness, LL. I recall you giving a tutorial re Swansea’s second goal... a brilliant looping Mcburnie header. It was an interesting analysis but total bollox in my opinion. We all see these things differently.
Where did our triangles go? Surprised to see the BBC stats, we had a lot of the ball but never really looked dominant. Yes Brum played every trick in the book to kill the game and waste time but tbh that’s exactly what we would have wanted Leeds to do if the tables were turned and we were looking for our first win so fair play to them. I thought Dallas had nicked a point for us but that was a very good save from Camp. C’est la vie. Great to see a few of the guys and hope Shako is alive wherever he got to. Also really good to see Glory looking so well. Onwards and upwards
Forgot what it was like to wake up on a Sunday morning pissing down with rain and reflecting on a Leeds defeat. I’d forgot how horrible it actually feels.
Away fans filled three quarters of the upper section allocated to them but the bottom half was empty. Could have added another couple of thousand to that figure if there was a way of segregating them into a smaller section when teams don’t sell out - shame really.
