I rate Hughes more than MP, but he hasn’t shown me he’s better than Puel yet (or worse). I’ll compare that around Christmas when Hughes has had more time.

Hughes appears to have some of the attacking play improved, but not the defence. Puel had us looking solid without the attacking play clicking (even though at times it was getting there, but people seem to judge him by the run of 0-0 games when everything was over for him).

Puel was 7th going into that run of games at Christmas having had Europa league too and a Captain who wanted to leave.

 

Not sure yet. Haven’t been there for a while. Are they serving anything edible?

 

It's our first game this season, so don't know (new owners now).......do they do food in the guide dog? Can't recall seeing people eat in there.

 

Great beer and they used to do just pork pie or sausage rolls.

Terry was a truly great competitor, a leader on the field, one of the best defenders of his generation...but a complete rotter. Wouldn’t want him anywhere near Saints in any capacity.

Errr... don’t we do that already? Many of our academy players have a London origin. Sadly fans do demand big money signings. Personally I would much rather see a group of young players kept together through to the first team. Stephens (at his best), Reed, JWP, Sims, Obafemi, Vokins and Slatterly with some experience around them would produce just as good results as current team.

Incidentally, I did not particularly want Hughes as manager from the outset. But he did enough last season to deserve a contract so I’m happy to back him for at least 18 months.

 

I keep reading that some people don't particularly want Hughes.........lets be honest who could we get instead? Who's available? Maybe an unknown from another league a la Puel/MP2......neither worked.

 

Puel hardly failed tbf but you have point I agree, can you imagine the reaction had we changed in the Summer and not had a great start.

There'll be calls for Big Sam in a few weeks.

 

Poch was pretty unknown in the UK when we appointed him. That worked OK!

 

Please don't mention pork: especially pork pie. Am salivating at the thought of it! The major downside to living in a Muslim country!
