Fair enough DJ, Its about opinions on here its just on 606 you was one of the more positive posters now you seem suicidal! I honestly don't see things been that bad and think things will Improve but who knows?
We haven´t been dangerous enough in front of goal, of thát there´s no doubt(and I´m not going to try and defend 4-5-1 against Palace, it was bonkers), but we have just brought in an England U21 striker, I think we should wait to see what effect he has, before deciding the problem hasn´t been addressed.
Why do you put such importance on his media skills. I dont give a flying f**k what he sounds like or what his personality is like. This is football not a gay dating agency! If Man U. thought a manager had to be so 'media friendly' Ferguson would have lasted about a week.
anybody actually agree with this guy because i do! i think his artical is to ranty but the points he makes are valid. If it wernt for the Allam's buying us out then we might even cease to exist.
Fergie has always handled the media brilliantly. He has a fair few of them under his thumb. He gets stories out through them all the time that he wants publishing about other players or managers. Dj is right his attitude is poor to the media. No he shouldnt be like Brown but there is no need to go to the other extreme. He is talking to us not Burns when he does the interview.
We are talking about his attitude not his ability to manipulate the media. In these days of wonderful inter-personal social skills I think some people would rather have Dale Winton as manager. In my opinion a manager's job is to win games, buy decent players and get the team playing well. The rest is Bulls**t and if he did those things I wouldn't care if he was Sadam Hussein.
The media role is part of his job. All good and great managers can communicate well. Fergie, Wenger, Mourinho Shankly etc. Why the fuk is he so special that it is beneath him and treats it and us with contempt.
I agree 100% with all you said except the last two words. But i know what you are driving at. To be honest i would rather Craig Shaker Skakespear do the media work. We all know that NP hates doing it so why not delegate it to Shaker.
if he starts winning games (or even producing more then 1 shot on target), then i wont care about the media side either...his style on and off the pitch emphasises everyhthing on results..so if he has to live and die by that...if he was more likeable, i reckon people would give him more slack and time..
This 'media darling' thing is a stupid new diversion to what a manager's role should be. I repeat -his job is the success of the team on the pitch. No manager should be responsible for soothing the delicate sensibilities of fragile football fans who should basically just grow some. By your criteria a good footballing manager might be considered less capable than a poor manager with a lovely Media smile. Ridiculous.
Phil Brown was a media mans dream. But a footballing disaster by the end. Give me the silent but successful manager anytime.
I have absolutely no problem with NP being the way he is with the media, as far as I'm concerned if the team produce good performances and solid results, he can say what he likes to Burnsy. However, some managers use the media as a technique to project themselves differently, or gain a physcological advantage over their opponents. It does work - everyone remembers Jose Mourinho as the self proclaimed 'Special One.' That's part of who he is and what he does, so playing it cleverly in front of the cameras clearly worked to his advantage there. But I'm not sure Pearson lauding himself in a such a manner would go down so well with Tigers fans...
I agree, but I'd hardly call Pearson quiet. Quieter, maybe, but he still sulks and snaps at the press.. loses his dummy when we've lost. That said, who cares about that if he brings success?
Fergie handled the BBC brilliantly... Besides, not everyone is going to agree on everything all the time anyhow. Managers, players, owners, tactics, formations, if you get 10 people in a room, you'll get 10 different views? Which one's right? All of them, or none of them, its all subjective really. Come Christmas time, that's when a more considered judgement can be made in my view, but for the moment, I'm more than happy with everything we have, and think it'll come good and give us a good base to build on too for the future. NB: Im not saying I like 4-5-1 just that Im sure NP will sort it.
Its not really worth discussing if you are going to twist everything i say. Dale Winton, media darlings, fragile. Who the fuk are you talking about. People like Bobby Robson were courteous to the press and realised it is part of their job. What are you gonna do now call him a ***got?
What a stupid comment. Can't you appreciate that everyone is different? Bobby Robson was out-going and NP is quiet and yes maybe a bit moody. Neither personality should be a consideration of how well they do the job we pay them to do. For me the fact that NP's players totally respect him speaks volumes and totally nullifies peripheral media nonsense.
