Stoke City v Swansea City please log in to view this image League - Sky Bet Championship Date - Tuesday, 18 September 2018 Kick off - 8pm Venue - The Britannia Stadium Following their fairly drab scoreless home draw against Nottingham Forest, next up for Graham Potter’s threadbare squad is a visit to fellow relegated side, Stoke City. The point gained against Forest took the Swans back into the play-off places and seems to indicate that if Potter has been backed better in the Summer transfer window, the Swans would have been really well placed to mount a sustained challenge for promotion: as it is now, the largely young squad could fade and the season progresses - hampered by potential injuries and suspension which could take their toil.... Whilst the Swans were drawing with Forest, Stoke were drawing 2-2 away at Sheffield Wednesday. Gary Rowett's visitors had taken an impressive first-half lead thanks to a Benik Afobe double at Hillsborough, but the spirited hosts struck back through Portuguese striker Marco Matias. With Brentford loanee Ryan Woods - apparently Swansea Manager Graham Potter’s number one transfer target in the Summer- impressing on his full debut, and Afobe lively throughout, they should have made the most of going ahead via the DR Congo forward after only two minutes. Afobe, who took his tally to four for the season, had another goal ruled out for off-side and went close again before Scotland international Bannan clipped in the equaliser off the post. It moved Wednesday up to ninth and meant Potters boss Gary Rowett has still won just one in his last 14 away matches in all competitions. Stoke have the second-worst defence in the Championship so far having conceded 13, only QPR are worse with 14 against, and were once again guilty of sloppy defending in South Yorkshire. The Swans and the Potters have played each other on 70 occasions, with the Swans winning 22, Stoke 27 and 21 draws. Indeed, Swansea and Stoke played their final PL match before relegation against each other (at The Liberty) when Stoke ran out 2-1 winners, which meant they had completed the double over the Swans having won by the same score line at The Britannia earlier in the season. Turning to Tuesday night, I have a feeling that this is when Stoke will finally kickstart their season and whilst I’m hoping for a 1-1, im expecting Stoke to win 2-1.
The proverbial wet Tuesday night in Stoke huh. Without Montero - I don't see where we will get goals. 0-0 best hope.
Stoke to win. I just hope it's not an early goal or it could be all over by half time as we never looked like scoring yesterday. And please no more injuries! Score... ? ... 2 - 0
On the basis that we win when it's least expected, I'll go Stoke 0 Swansea 1. (An own goal or a penalty).
I hate it when we play there. Would love to come away with a point but it needs a big improvement on Saturday, so regrettably 2-0 to Stoke
How can you back stoke ? They have been terrible this season so far. We have a very good chance of getting the points......Stoke 0 - 1.
Our home form is poxy so far this season - if you include the Palace match, we’ve played 5 matches at home and managed just the 1 win against Preston. We’ve done better on the road so maybe we can get a 0-0 at Stoke.
Looks like our midfield, with Carroll,Celina, Fer and Folton could be Dhanda, Grimes and Naughton unless we use Routledge/. We fans could see this coming but the owners either couldn't or didn't want to. 99% of us fans have forgotten more about football than the Yanks know and of course they must have received great advice from HJ. Ryan Woods who we needed urgently will probably make his debut for Stoke tomorrow night.
Most have been running the Swans down since the season started and the team shoots you down in flames... Keep it going as your support is not necessary...
I think ''the didn't want to'' option is favourite, we have been lucky so far, it will only get worse as the number of games increase and the players get tired, lets hope we don't lose VDH or Rodon. As for the game, as bad as Stoke have been, we couldn't beat their side when we had PL players in our squad, Cant see anything other than a Stoke win, 3-1 Stoke. But it could get embarrassing if they final start to play.
