There is no evidence to suggest Arsenal are still a top 6 club under the new management regime That's like claiming Man Utd would still be title challengers under Moyes
On the handball decisions i think it is a result of the VAR decisions at the WC where if ball made contact with the arm they gave handball.
Other than a home game against an awful Arsenal and a decent Bournemouth, they have played Huddersfield, Newcastle and Cardiff. They play West Ham next week, meaning they will have played 4 of the bottom 5 in their opening 6 games. Big game in a couple weeks for both of us
But they've #bottledit on holding opponents with both arms. For a brief time they were giving it as penalties, now they're letting everything go again.
The Arsenal game was a #cointoss for whose defence was the worst, and Bournemouth was a late deflection They're having to "dig deep" and rely on luck in all their wins, and they haven't even started the 104 game Europa campaign yet
thus is why var is being resisted at every opportunity. imagine if teams actually had a var call like cricket where if it is a good shout they keep it? refs would actually have to ref not make it up as they go along. the ultimate judge imo is ref running over to a screen and seeing the incident then deciding himself and not having the var guy just telling him what to change call to. in cricket amazingly they have a system for marginal calls where the in field decision is respected and 95% of the time the decision is not over turned. surely football could create such a ruling. let's be clear about yesterday. without the goal line technology we would not have been given first goal as Oliver and linesman wouldn't give it. spurs would have had pen imo. vertonghan would have been at least carded. half the so called frees given to spurs around our box would be ruled.out. in our prior game vvd would have had a pen... like leicester would be relegated under var the way they defend.
btw... zlatan goal on goals on sunday. He's found his level there just like Rooney. surprised Utd let him go but I suppose mourinho just want a people.who defend.
linesman was poor for our first goal yesterday. he was well out of position to see that, wasn't even marginal it was quite a bit over. vvd we should have had a pen before we scored that goal any way, so that's 2 potential incidents we could have got stitched on, one mistake would have been by ref the other by linesman. i bet they dont get shown these incidents and trained on them either ffs.
That's impossible to say. Because the technology is there, the refs don't make a decision, they know it'll be made for them. Agree that Spurs should have had a penalty though
doesn't work like that in cricket or rugby. I reckon at this point the linesmen don't even look at goal for ball.over line as they know tech is there. ok so on some occasions umpires in cricket have been embarrassed that they missed a no ball on a dismissal that gets reviewed but 999/1000 Now are not missed. refs and linesman should not want to be caught out by var and should be doing the job. teams should have a var appeal 100%
That first goal was quite odd, I wasn't sure what had been given. The replay showed it was well over the line....was it Winks in Olliver's face moaning about something Great header from Wijnaldum #neckmuscles
absolute bollocks re cricket. No balling is far more rife now as most umpires don't even look for it as they know if a wicket falls it will be picked up .
so... arsenal lose v two top 4 teams (astro is being silly about Chelsea btw) then win next 3 and they are not "ironed on" top 6. seriously...... let me know which side is going to break into top 6.. watford? please...
they have been caught out on it and do look more. thats my point. its highly embaressing to raise the finger then see it's a no ball on the screen. there is an umpire there purely to judge no ball and run out. if the technology were enough we would drop one umpire totally and just go with the one
