hi fellas! an exciting weekend awaits us on both sides of the channel,so lets kick off with my first two verdicts:

    listowel,1 45:

this looks very much a match between BALLINISKA BAND and panther soul, with narrow preference for the former, who has already a listed bumper win to his name, and could be a very useful prospect.top shout.

    donny,1 50: PORTLAND HANDICAP

fiercely competitive stuff, and plenty with chances, but ive the feeling, the three year old ABEL HANDY will run a big race today.although he didnt show much so far this season,in fairness,he was competing at the highest level, and his second-last run looks much better now,as he wasnt beaten that far,and some of the horses around him have franked the form in the meantime.also interesting, that james doyle is back on board,as he was also, when winning last autumn.has very strong juvenile form too,so if back to that level today, wont be far away..e w player.

I posted my thoughts on the St Leger and the Irish Champion last night as I did not expect to still be in the country today. That has all gone pear-shaped – more to follow elsewhere on that debacle.

If I had received this in Dieppe, it would not have been much use to me. Double the usual wealth warning as I am still waiting to hear from my mate who gave him this! (Maybe he read one of Lucy’s books <laugh>)

Lingfield 5:30 – DANCE TO PARIS

Looking in the betting it is the favourite. Would have been appropriate if I had got the ferry!

I'm on Dee Ex Bee ew in the St Leger. It's not with any great confidence but I don't fancy taking such a short price on the favourite in what looks like quite a decent field

Sadly. I am pretty sure they thought they had a gilt edge chance of going in under a penalty and scooping a decent pot before moving up in grade.

    hi denny!h
hi denny! well, dee ex bee could be a dark horse here, and may well surprise a few today.but i was very impressed with OLD PERSIAN last time out,so i go with him here.

but first to the second race at donny:

while im not 100 % confident, that OH THIS IS US is a proper group horse,he may well prove me wrong,as he seems to thrive on a very busy season.so,if able to improve a notch or two,can be a force today.ryan moore an obvious plus too..

Story of his life this last year, has to be riding to instructions as he's misjudging so many rides (and that's me being kind!)

    donny,3 00 CHAMPAGNE STAKES

too darn hot is an exceptional horse already now,and he may well win this on the bridle, but i like DARK VISION a lot,and like so many form his yard, seems to be getting better with racing,so surely worth his place here, and can run a big race today..

Too Darn Hot could get turned over here, 7f at Donny might be sharp enough for him if hes a proper Derby horse. Taking on a very good horse but Dark Vision worth a bet at 5/1 imo.

I just thought Ryan spotted the gap and the horse just didn’t pick up!! And the door closed.
