Our debt can and likely will be wiped out once the club is floated. Sure the Glazer might keep hold of the entire lot but considering the amounts they could raise it is perfectly possible for them to clear the 308million ( which of course will reduce further and I am going to assume they use the banked funds to pay off the rest ) and still have 2-300million to play with. This may allow them to re-invenst the 150million already in the bank and pocket 150million if they so wish.

The Glazers would retain around 75% of the club which would now be debt free and this would allow them to take money from the club while still funding the club ( no matter how you feel about them taking money, they have the right to just like any owners are ) using our ever increasing revenue streams.

So while we have spent the last 6 years in huge debt its getting to a point where we will go from being one of the worlds most indebted football clubs to the richest club in world football ( in terms of self generated money ).

Seriously it would be possible for us to make major signings every year aswell as bank a hefty sum for future plans ( stadium? ) while the glazers and the others shareholders to take massive sums from the club aswell.

We would be the envy of many many clubs.

    Comas.
    All that to finish fourth.
Can we have the lottery numbers please. Only a Man United fan would be stupid enough to claim they are going to win the league 3 games into the new season. I can remember them saying that at the start of the 2009/2010 season... I wonder how that worked out<laugh>

We're happy because we are still spending, still winning, and still have £150 million in the bank. And the £30 million profit is after the debt interest has been paid, and all transfer spending. It's also not the cash profit, which was £55 million (net profit includes financial things like depreciation on the stadium, cash profit excludes them).

The Scholes, Neville and VDS retirements, along with Brown and O'Shea leaving will probably save us around £20 million next season, although the new arrivals will cost around £12 million at a guess. But then wages always rise in football, usually by pretty high amounts. It's one of the reason ticket prices keep rising faster than inflation - it's more important for clubs to pay more to get better players than it is for them to keep ticket prices lower for less well off fans. Sad but true.

So what you're saying is that Liverpool's owners are still selling to buying? I though FSG were supposed to be investing heavily in Liverpool to make you a force to be reckoned with again? Looks like they are cutting costs as much as they can, not the best recipe for future footballing success.

The Glazers wouldn't have to clear the whole debt, but they would have to pay some of it down. No one would buy shares in a company if all the money was going straight to the owners - they would expect at least some of it to be spent on improving the balance sheet.

Glad I'm not the only one who has realised this.

Looks like their hoping for mid-table stability. Good for them really, about time they had realistic expectations.

There are some serious dumb ****ers on this forum and many so called "United fans" who don't seem to know the first thing about the club, let alone go to matches ! Whether you love or hate the Glazers ( and I can understand why people have different opinions ) they are first and foremost business people and are involved in United to make money . When they bought the club, not breaking any rules in doing so, they didn't have £ 800 million cash lying around so guess what they borrowed the money, just like millions of other businesses do when they expand their businesses. Some of their borrowings ( the so called toxic loans ) where at very unfavourable rates of interest but they still raised enough to buy the club outright. During their years of ownership they have rescheduled and slowly but consistently reduced that debt and I'm sure we will see it cleared completely one day whether it is immediately after the proposed Asian part sale or at some later date. They will eventually own all or most of our club without any substantial debt ( some may remain for tax purposes ) and they will then own a substantial asset ( 1.5 Billion £ ? ) without putting a penny of their own money in !!!!! Whether you like that or not it is the world of finance and United is just another commodity to them. No one can take away the fact that they have substantially increased our revenues mainly by sponsorship from major companies which I think we would not have attracted without their presence, and yes I didn't like the increase in ticket prices, as that directly effected my pocket too, but like the other "United Addicts" I pay up to get my fix. Of course it would be great to live in " Wonderland" where United are owned 100% by their supporters and every penny profit goes back into the club's transfer kitty but unfortunately we don't and this will never happen. But don't just blame this on the Glazers, I have been supporting United for the best part of 50 years and can remember the old Mr Edwards ( chairman ) pocketing any profits that were made and his son Martin made millions from the sale of his shares after taking over the helm so life goes on and in my 50 years we the fans have never been anything other than a regular source of income, a hard fact to swallow but true. Finally, during the Glazers ownership we have continued to win trophies and it doesn't appear that they interfere in the day to day running of the club, as Fergie seems happy with the situation, then I'm happy. It is certainly in their ( the Glazers) interest for United to keep doing well, because that will mean they make more money in the long run and as I stated earlier that is their prime motive for owning our club. We can all have a laugh and some banter but a decent discussion now and again would not go a miss.
