I hope the steward has turned up. Big Easy and Grumeti were the last 2 ‘proper’ hurdlers to win the race. The former won twice over 3 miles+ (including at Cheltenham) over hurdles but yes the latter was more of a 16-20 furlong horse over timber. I just think that more NH owners/trainers will look at this £1 million heat and think, ‘interesting’ and it could have a huge impact on the NH sphere.

In fact re Alan King don’t be surprised if he switches more and more to the Flat from this point on. He’s had 28 winners and won over £360k in prizemoney so far this 2018 Flat season . Plus his daughter (who is rumoured to be the next big thing) is soon to take out an amateur license to ride on the level. Within a year or 2 this will become a Flat apprentice license.

i think,TEMPLEPARK has a good e w shout here.he hasnt done much wrong in bumpers so far,and this hurdles debut plus a longer trip could unlock some improvement.so,good e w chance..

Good luck Stick, 9's looks massive as he is as low as 10/3.

Good luck the don, your money certainly has moved him to as low as 10/3 now. Hope you got on at 9's too.

quite a good race for the time of year, and not easy, but ive the gut feeling, that REDEMPTION SONG will go very well here.she might have to improve a few pounds to beat the best of these, but thats far from impossible,as she was a useful sort over hurdles, and if taking to fences first time out, could run a big race here.also interesting, that nico de boinville takes the ride, and the yard is in great form too at present.

well the big one at listowel is not far away now,so heres my verdict:

as always, very competitive stuff, and my choice SHANTOU VILLAGE is a narrow one,but i think his profile fits well into this race.hes quite well treated now, given his former exploits, and hails from a shrewd yard,so surely has a good and solid e w chance today.the only slight doubt is the ground, but if he goes on it,could run a massive race..

It seems there is a lot of interest around a horse called Squire in the 8:45, I'm gathering that a couple of you might have an involvement in the horse? I've backed Mime Dance at 22/1 ew with 4 places on offer with Skybet. It appears I've missed the decent prices to get involved with Squire today so the very best of luck to you and I shall watch with interest

and i hope, neil mulholland has even more reason to smile in the 4 30 at uttoxeter, where he fields SOUPY SOUPS.quite a few of these are dangerously well handicapped now,but come with risks attached on current form.but my choice is still less exposed over fences than most, and has fallen a long way in the ratings.so,good chance..

DEBUCHETs hurdling career hasnt been an instant hit so far,but hes a very classy performer, and,on his best bumper form, shouldnt be long in winning in this sphere.big shout!

Squire unlucky running on at the death. Thought the jockey fluffed the start, don’t rate him myself.

Have to agree Florida - best draw squire has had since I was 21 but missed the jump ? Interesting to get sticks view on the jockey - especially as he was paying !! But money back for the ew thieves ...

Personally. I think he is the best jockey for Squire. Didn't see the race so can't comment on it
