    Bizarre.png

This has got to be just about the strangest thing that has ever appeared on the CAFC official website.

The Club has asked the EFL to consider whether the protests are helping the sale of the Club?
    <laugh> Absolute Classic Duchatelet nonsense.

What has that got to do with the total and long term breakdown in communications between Duchatelet's regime and the entire Charlton Athletic fan base?

Does RD believe the EFL should be helping him to get an inflated price for the basket case he created, by somehow taking his side against protesting supporters?

The silly old scrote is beyond deluded. He is completely out to lunch.

    EDIT:

Actually of course this isn't the strangest thing ever posted on the official CAFC website.
Somebody on CL has reminded me of the March 2016 rant about some fans wanting the Club to fail.
    Oh, the irony.

To think that someone capable of writing such a load of absolute garbage as this is in charge of our fantastic club. And some fans support, even praise his stewardship. And there is a forum which devotes most of its energy towards sneering at those who protest against his stewardship. Such a pity that the EFL will not concern itself with the sheer bare-faced dishonesty of this article, dishonesty which is Roland's trademark.

Why are the Club asking the EFL to examine communications by CARD, CAST and various social media outlets?

What control have the EFL got over these places? Is Mumsnet a signed up member of the EFL?

This missive is clearly just a deflection.

Not according to a handful of posters on another forum.

The statement is incredibly badly written, so its quite possible that Duchatelet was involved.

What a club ....still blaming its own fans for all of its ills <applause>

You would wonder why on earth Duchatalet would bother making this statement (or at least get on of his minions to do it in regular English) to the public when he could have easily sent it by email to the EFL. So the sale of Charlton has been blocked by the protests of the fans (one small car park protest last month in over a year). So the price and the state of the club are irrelevant to a sale, new buyers are only likely to be interested in the protests amongst what is left of the fanbase. It's laughable really. The only buyer who would worry about the fanbase being likely to complain would be another Roland, so not really much of a worry to the large majority of Charlton fans.
I hope the media latch onto this, it's a classic own goal from a man who specialises in them. It'll be amusing if he has ameeting with the EFL in the same room as Card and Cast. While he may well be able to claim to be footing the bills, his people skills are in need of medication than publicity.

It would have been much more sensible for RD to say nothing at all, as he has done for 99% of the other crises he has subjected the Club to.

But something does seem to prick him every now and then.
Something seems to get through this persona he emits of being completely detached and unconcerned.

Perhaps he is genuinely worried that the EFL might turn up some matters of genuine concern to them when they begin looking into how Charlton Athletic is being run. Perhaps he is attempting to hijack the agenda or muddy the waters in order to dilute any criticism that might be coming his way soon.

I cannot think of why he would bother with an official "comment" like this, unless he is rattled.
Actual home attendances of less than 6,000 is probably cramping his ability to sell Charlton for twice as much as it is actually worth now.

That is what the protests are hindering - Duchatelet's attempts to con a new owner out of millions that he himself has wasted.
It is not the EFL's job to help him make others pay for his blundering.

Perhaps the silliest part is request for the EFL to look at social media. Roland has lost his grip on reality if he expects the EFL to plough through that sort of stuff.

Didn't the EFL say they have all the documents and the delay is nothing to do with them?

I think the EFL were saying that they had dealt with all the documents sent in from the Aussies.

The suggestion is though that further documentation is required from them and as this hasn't been forthcoming, they cannot process it and approve their ownership.

The messages coming from both the Club and the EFL are still confusing. The Aussies have been notably quiet on the matter - certainly so since Muir's bestie has taken his ball home.

I think we have all concluded that the Aussies didn't have the money, and are time wasters.

If that's an unpopular viewpoint with a certain person who still looks in, tough :emoticon-0148-yes:

It's weird that the Aussies should spend a reported £1m (I can't believe it is that high?) on due diligence and then just go cold on completion when everything has supposedly been agreed? Not only that, when somebody offers to off-set some of those losses by buying the DD off them they then refuse suggesting they are still interested in buying the Club but perhaps not at the previously agreed price?

Its now being suggested that the Aussies might be able to "sell on" their Due Diligence to folk who actually have the money to buy the Club <whistle> I have no idea if this is legally possible. Maybe they take their old Tizer bottles back as well.

The statement missed out an important rider: "Selling the club on his terms remains Roland's number one priority" it should have read.
