im hoping there’s a lot more to come from McGeouch. Thought he looked poor yesterday. Touch was poor and passing was poor. I hear loads of good things about him but yet to see it!

I’m certainly not writing him off but he was outplayed massively by Catts yesterday in every aspect.
He’s coming back from a lengthy lay off so hopefully just needs time to get back to fitness

Denver Hume on the other hand, take a bow son. Thought we’d nassively miss Oviedo but he filled the spot perfectly. His distribution was excellent. When he crossed the ball he looked first every time and aimed for a man in or around the box! Certainly looks like an asset

    Looks like McGeouch
    Played within himself
He took no chances stayed at the back
He needs to express himself and step up to the plate

Agree with every word f original post, I do think we need to give McGeouch time though cos everything I’ve heard suggests he’s a real player.

I was told he lacked physicality but was a smashing user of the ball, we ain’t seen it. Being behind in fitness this early does show you up though and I’m sure he will come good.

Sounds like McGeouch is physically ready to play but his head's not quite there yet.

That can only come with more game time, so he needs to keep playing. Hopefully he should get it all together sooner rather than later, but it looks like he's gonna be carried in the meantime.

Agree completely, the thing that surprised me about McGeough was I had the impression he had a real engine on him and would graft all game so I was surprised that he didn't do any of that. I figured he'd have to be subbed from being knackered but he just strolled about all game. Does look to have some quality on the ball at least.

Hume was immense, he reminds me of a LB version of Gooch. Played some lovely passes and set up Honeyman to cross for the goal. He's one of them where you think if he's already this good how's he going to end up.

When McGeouch came on against Gillingham I thought he looked class. He saw plenty of the ball and played it simply but quickly each time and the midfield seemed to buzz around him. He looked really good. The only thing was, he seemed to be doing much the same thing as Cattermole, who up until that point had also looked class, clearing things up and playing it simple. McGeouch seemed to be a bit more creative and moved the ball quicker but it didn't look like the two of them worked in the same midfield. That might be the problem- maybe McGeouch is stifled because they're both doing similar things. It would be interesting to see what McGeouch is like without Cattermole in the side.

He is 22 and should have been playing earlier imo. his touch is a dream compared to the nightmares we see week in week out from some of his senior colleagues, including in the last game.

Few years older than I thought but still plenty of time to develop as long as he continues to get game time. If he can consistently play like he did yesterday and improve along the way I'd be tempted to name him first choice LB. Oviedo is good but I don't think he'll be around for much longer whereas we could in theory have ten years from Hume.

I don't like Cats and McGeouch playing in the same team. The graft honeymoon has to put in while they're playing is ridiculous, Maja get isolated as a result and we don't see the creative side of George as a result

Me neither they're too similar. Power and whoever looks the best out of Catts and McGeough for the other position.

Good point about Honeyman he's a key player for us and needs to be given some breathing space. One of the first names on the teamsheet for me if not the first.

Head above parapet here but I have seen little from him this season so far. Think he’s been our worst midfielder! Does loads of running but not much else. Might as well play Ussain Bolt. I personally don’t see a captain in him. Just an opinion mind

Too small, too many turnovers, and too many backwards passes. Don't think he works any harder than anybody else. When he talks to the ref he looks like he's trying to talk his way out of a detention.

That's 'cos he's not a captain, and probably never will be. I haven't seen anything of note from him, either, and his contribution so far has been similar to that of McGeoch (quiet), and he certainly hasn't seemed to work any harder than anybody else, but he's a part of a team that's doing okay, and Jacky Boy seems to know what he's doing.

There was a captain out there on saturday, leading, and it wasn't the Honeymonster :emoticon-0105-wink:

Honeyman is the type of player who goes under appreciated but when he's not playing you miss him. I think that he has a hand (or foot) in most of our attacks and just at the weekend put in a lovely cross for Maja who scored. He also put it on a plate for Baldwin who missed from about a foot away, put in several dangerous corners we nearly scored from and the cross that we hit the post from.

This was all on his left foot mind, not bad for a right footed player.

    This reminded me of
Kevin ball and Alex Rae in the same team
    This happened quite often
I think McGeouch catts and onein are similar type of player
Maybe onein was brought in as catts replacement
However catts staying and his good form has kept him in the team
Now McGeouch is fit again and power is suspended I think we are only playing
    Catts and McGeouch together temporary
Nevertheless it’s ross who has the selection problems
I’m sure he will choose the right two

Honeyman is a delightful footballer, we have a few of these coming through the ranks and if they can develop at the same rate as George the future looks bright , Ross seems to sense this and with a bit of good fortune the basis for a very good team is taking shape.
