@monacoger will you explain this Nations League, thanking you in advance please log in to view this image
I was reading about it yesterday and got as far as "2 teams of the 31 lowest ranked teams out of the 55 can get qualification to the Euros" then I got very bored and stopped reading
here is the link if you fancy giving it a read, there are even videos, which I didn´t watch https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/42719404
I saw that and I even got an email from UEFA but life is too short but anyway 2 games of note tonight Germany v France and Wales v Rep. of Ireland.
Think Scotland are playing a friendly against Belgium and then a Nations League game against Albania. Not even sure when they are playing but as you can imagine, I am very excited about the whole thing.
The friendly tomorrow, see there's the thing this nations thingy is supposed to replace meaningless friendlies yet they are still been played??I know Ireland having bother,Declan Rice having second thoughts about playing for the Republic with England chasing him and Harry Arter fighting with Keane, yes surpised meself!
The reason that some teams have friendlies is that some groups only have 3 teams in them, the groups with 4 teams in them won´t have friendlies I don´t think.
Germany v France about to kick off in group 1 I think most nations have taken the stand that they will indeed treat this as a secondary competition. However, given that this league is an alternate route to Euro qualification, as soon as one of the bigger nations finds themselves in trouble in their actual Euro qualifying group (as did holland last time out or England in 2008), I think the tone will have to change. The other thing is that there is a relegation and promotion system in place and I’m not sure how a powerhouse will react to possibly being relegated into the B league next season.
