In fairness Sky only ever owned 20% of Skybet and it’s now been sold on anyway, and they have no stake in it anymore.
The markets that you were referring to are tiny anyway, it’s a decent pub story to say they were manipulating those markets with their own gossip, but the reality is they were worth relative buttons.
Yeah one bet as small as 10 or 20 quid would probably be enough to shift the odds on those sorts of markets.
Genuine question, isn't Skybet being sold to the Star Group and wasn't that originally owned in some part by Murdoch!?
The Stars Group has bought it but I don’t know of a former involvement with Murdoch. All I know about them is that their field is on line poker, which is a large part of the revenue stream of Sky bet.
Football is hard to watch on TV with a recovering gambling addict on the sofa next to you. Just think all that the kids are seeing are gambling adverts. Can you even watch a football match now without subliminally thinking of having a bet?
