3.5 ready meals sold everyday, in a 10 billion pound a year industry. That's pretty shocking. Although I admit they have improved massively. So what the best lazy bastard foods out there? On a side note, salmon us now the biggest selling fish.
There's local place that makes ready meals called The Authentic Curry Co. Best I've had outside of takeaways or restaurants.
A fine conneseur of ready meals. My guilty pleasure is some of those Korean instant noodles. Zero nutritional value but great taste
I indulge in the odd Microwave Carbonara from Morrisons if I get home too late to cook and the girls have already eaten (no point cooking a meal for myself). I was partial to the Chow Mein Pot Noodles back in the day, until 1999 when they changed the recipe and it became ****ing gross. Now If I am forced to eat a Pot Noodle its the green one
Fish Pie. From Waitrose Local, because I'm middle class now (and can't be arsed to walk to Sainsbury's).
Dont think I ever bought a ready meal tbh. Always found something lying around the kitchen area I could rustle up a quick meal.
Very rare i have a ready meal, if i did, probably something like a meat+veg casserole. But NEVER microwaved! If it don't go in the oven it's a no sireee. I hate going to restaurants that openly use microwaves too, especially for the prices they charge. I do own a microwave, but it just sits there like part of the coloured co-ordinated feature in any kitchen. Don't know if they still do them, but i remember seeing microwave kebabs, the thought of them just wanted to make me throw up Ps. **** thread BTW
To be fair, i prefer some of the 'Local' stores than i do the big supermarkets. Prices are normally pretty decent to, plus it's less hassle during the working week.
True, but when the Waitrose local opened on our High Street, the owner of the “open all hours” corner shop told me that would be the final straw for his business, and it was; three months after it opened, he was gone
Do rustler burgers count? Don’t mind having one of them once in a while. More a snack than a meal though really. In terms of actual ready meals, from memory I’ve only ever bought chicken vindaloos from supermarkets and they were ****ing ****.
Closest I get to a ready meal is the non frozen chicken kievs or goujons you can get at Sainsbury's. All the ready meals look ****, moussaka ffs
Sorry mate, not much sympathy for them tbph. Most of them were normally ripped off priced stock (even out of date stock) that they had purchased multi pack at the local supermarkets.
M&S are generally good ... got a good Korean Japanese section which we've been sampling recently ... Anybody remember the Vesta dried packet meals? ... used to enjoy them back in the day
