wait...what??? er....who? we did what?! oh my! ..that was one of the best wins ever for me! What an amazing day! We looked slow in the first half, as we have in the last couple of games, but once Deeney beat Sanchez and Spurs nearly scored an own goal the whole thing changed, and we were amazing! We were utterly amazing! What a fab result! What a great atmosphere, what a feeling of togetherness both on and off the pitch! Shame we have to wait 2 weeks but just how far can this team go?! It really is a team! Just wow!
I'm ashamed to say that I fell asleep just after they scored. I was not feeling positive at that stage as I thought that Spurs would shut up shop, park the bus and everything else negative. It hadn't looked like either team would score until the own goal. Woke up and picked up the rest of the match on replay-on-demand as i got ready for worked, made the children's lunches and ferried tea to Mrs NZ. By the time I left home I had a grin the size of the Grand Canyon despite the fact that there was a freezing gale blowing outside and all the rubbish bins that had been put out for the bin men had blown all over the road, which was littered with bottles and cans. Still smiling. At the start of the season I would have been happy with 5 points after four games.
I must admit I switched off my feed after we went 2-1 up because I am still in last season mode and I doubted our ability to hold onto the lead. Never happier to be proven wrong. And I am loving the team spirit we are showing. Holebas has been a revelation so far.
Gracia got manager of the week in the Telegraph but not one player was in the team of the week. All I can say is Milner, Bertrand, Gomez and Walker must have been amazing to keep our defenders out of it...
Strangely enough I've not heard from my usually vocal Spurs supporting son in law and grandsons since the game. It is weird their phones and computers have all packed up at the same time.
So that's why jct 5 of M1 was a nightmare! I came off at 6 at1505, (from Cheshire - so in good time in theory) got lost, queued for Church carpark- ran to the ground (Delofeu has a serious competitor) got in at 1605. But then...What a day ! Now then. Does it seem odd that all 4 (5 inc. Reading) teams we have played have themselves played poorly. Possibly Palarse weren't that bad. Brighton were off he pace , Burnley were tired (of course) Palarse couldn't get much action for Zaha (thankfully) and Spurs inexplicably played as if it was a friendly. How about the idea that we made them look poor! Clearly not an idea that sits well with the meejah as it will spoil their excitement. But that's my view of the 4 games I have been blessed to see. and to think we strolled past Reading with a COMPLETELY DIFFERENT lineup. JG has definitely got them together. Happy Days
And another thing. same team for 4 consecutive matches. And still no injuries ? (Only 1 person really injured (TC) who is recovering from surgery after a problem he has had for years! Take note Everton!) How can this be ? Perhaps the medical director recruited in January is as good as his CV suggested. Wow! Seems the club is developing in the right way on all fronts. COYH
And finally (!). Let's hear it for the U-18's ! Beat Burnley 5-3, playing with 10 men for 70 minutes after GK sent off for handling ball outside area. Spirit goes right through our club just now! (Oh and our loanee scored against Barcelona. Shame that his club came second - but well done anyway).
Seemed to me it was the challenge by Cathcart on the touch line that really galvanised both team and supporters, can't remember hanging round after a game like that, to applaud the team, for a very long time !
Deeney's programme notes were very telling - huge praise for the side who won on Wednesday night and indicating that they were every bit as important as the 11 that have started the league matches thus far. There's a spirit there that I haven't seen in quite a while - it's that common sense of purpose that is really impressive. It really was brilliant yesterday!
So much traffic was on the roundabout at J5 that even when the lights went green, no-one really moved. I just didn’t know about the festival. Would have gone another way! Also, there were barrier problems in both Church and Gade car parks which didn’t help either!
I usually go by train. Thanks HS2/Network Rail/Virgin West coast/London midland/ EPL (for shifting the fixtures)/ the whole bl**dy lot of you for forcing me to clog up the roads even more. I was really lucky it seems to get there. Don't need the stress. However, what a journey home ! I am sure though that i'm not going by car again - whoever we are playing. Well, until it's Barcelona!
What a match...... and defensively we are looking better and better...... and all the 'so-so' players people have talked about moving on/moaned about are all playing so well as a Team.... so glad Elton was there... will have brought back memories eh! I was ecstatic after watching the game, the interviews, the replays, MOTD2 etc.... and woke up this morning very happy about our team!

That may explain why so much traffic was coming out of the town and onto the roundabout rather than just stay on the A41. It seems it was a ‘perfect storm’ of traffic cock-ups.
Interesting that you should mention Leicester as Ranieri was at the Palace game and at the match yesterday - anyone know why?
