Hard to see an improvement in terms of position this season. Improvement in style of play?

You may be right, but it's a bit early to judge yet imo.

I'm not writing him off Col, I just get the feeling that the situation is controlling him rather than vice versa and thus he is reacting rather than having a gameplan

He asked for 10 games so let's see where we stand after that, not just in terms of league position but also formation, style and attitude

Understood, and I know I am in a minority, but I could put up with League One if I actually liked the team. It wouldn’t be the end of the world, we’ve spent most of our history (though not in my and your time as fans) at that level.

If we were doing well in the PL we could be playing a complete bunch of ****ers and I wouldn’t mind.....

There was tragically little to discuss.

Brum had one shot. At home. To us.

It's early days and a long season. You never really know what's going on behind the scenes. Anyone who breaks silence usually has an agenda.

I'm just pleased we didn't lose. I spent the last 15 minutes scanning the text feed and waiting for a Birmingham goal to knock me back.

Hopefully the team selection will settle down now and we'll learn who Schteeve thinks is his best side from the players he's got. Then we'll get an idea of what the team is capable of this season.

the general concensus was if we showed a bit of adventure we could/should have won this. Obviously the 7-1 debacle was on The Dutchman's mind, but let's hope he unleases Pavel and BOS and let's have a right go

Is QPR fans won’t change regardless of the team or league I believe what I am going through at the moment is the struggle to understand the team and club’s direction

As 9s said it appears that the club has panicked after poor preparations and we have borrowed a couple of players that couldn’t get a game anywhere else

    Is that the final plan?
    Borrow and survive until what?
The embargo is lifted and we spend spend spend ? Meanwhile the club’s reputation has been dragged through the mud who would want to come here ? The bullshit can’t happen again who is going to buy into that ?

Holloway and kids , league 1 if need be would of done for me personally because a real chance to reinvent the club . What we have now is a weak manager playing out his own delusional ego with borrowed players

    That’s how I still feel

I would like us to control and grow a new era in the right way ... I always said that from NW days when I used to bleat on about our ID and how our fan base will turn fickle etc

Today we are just looking at the next match
I will certainly respect SM if he manages to turn us into a decent football team no problem. The club management will take a lot longer imo as it’s embarrassing currently

How they even talk about buying/building a new stadium and then trading in talent is beyond me

    I have finally found Wifi!
Don't know much about what happened but 2 games 4 points no goals conceded is better than the 2 before with 0 points 10 goals conceded. We also won a cup game!

According to the EFL highlights programme that’s the first time we’ve kept back to back clean sheets in 2 years. That’s a shocking stat

I hear you DT and feel (some) of your pain.
My take is that SM doesn’t quite see the strength/depth of our youth for a championship team. Also we lost two experienced players at the back which needed to be replaced - I do think these needed to be more experienced heads (but I did feel we could use younger talented players at full back positions for pace - so not too sure about Rangel, though I wasn’t convinced by Kakay).

Our forward line definitely needed changing as we really weren’t anywhere near dangerous for oppositions - our two new strikers will worry oppositions and Smith is a good late alternative.

I was keen to see us develop youth too; but a relegation battle isn’t the best place for youth. If we improve and get to mid-table perhaps we can start seeing some of these come back in to the team - especially as we don’t have to worry about our loanees for next season.

I’d like to see us solidify our centre backs, then we need to get some creativity from our midfield (coaching?) to get the ball to our forwards - then we will hopefully see us pushing on.

Freeman was up against a full-back on a booking for a fair chunk of the second half. He was playing poorly, admittedly out of position, but it makes no sense to play him wide in a 4-4-2 when you’ve got BOS fresh from a good performance midweek, Smyth who is a nightmare for a full-back on a card and Wzolek, an international right winger, gathering dust.

It’s poor team selection whichever way you look at it. While we try and accommodate both Eze and Freeman we will suffer for it.

Everything is progress after West Brom.

From what I saw, I can’t praise our defence too much as Birmingham offered absolutely nothing at all apart from punts into the box from set pieces, normally from their own half. Their one shot was actually a decent chance but the guy fluffed it and it was a simple save.

I said something similar a while back. It's either Eze or Freeman, not both.
    Eze every time for me.
Of course, if we played 4-2-3-1 we could accommodate both, but that would mean sacrificing one of the new strikers or playing Wells as one of the three.
3-5-2 would solve it and I wouldn't mind that, even though we don't really have anyone to play wing back, except, maybe, Pavel.

I think a clean sheet is a huge plus and whilst I would have liked 3 points, 1 away from home is a bonus. We haven't exactly set the league alight with a our initial performances and results - however there has been improvements in last 3 games, and when the loanees have come in.

Whilst McLaren was brought in to develop the youngsters, I think that the experience he has brought in will help the youngsters. If they are used in a side that is continually getting beaten then their confidence will drop and we wind find ourselves at the bottom of the league. And the irony for me would be that IF we did or do go down, then we have let Washington leave who would probably benefit from playing against "lesser" opposition defenders. However Sheff Utd have git themselves an international player, QPR have redirected Conor's wages to Cameron.

I remember when Ray Wilkin's first came to QPR many many years ago. He was the experienced head in a relatively youngish side and he was the leader that was needed to help "gel" the team at that time. We played some of our best football at that time. If we can bring the youngsters when we are winning games then this will only benefit the club in the long term.

McLaren was not a manager I wanted for my club - however he is what we have, and for now we have to get on with it.

I was ready to see the back of McLaren after losing the first four.
However, the rot has been stopped and I'm willing to give him a few more games.
