I miss the old north bank and clock end terraces. I also think that splitting the home end into two tiers (when Highbury went all seater) didn’t help either.

There’s still a great atmosphere at the Emirates for the big games, when everybody in the stadium gets behind the team. But as I’ve said in earlier comments, true die hard fans are scattered through the stadium
Rather than all sitting (hopefully soon to be standing) together.

I stand for 90 minutes virtually every game I go to, can't remember the last time I sat down away.

This is the point, thousands stand every week anyway and it's currently more dangerous to do so than needs to be.

I've been to a few MK Dons games the last couple of seasons and we always stand.

Just seems wrong sitting at a football match just as it would be wrong standing at a cricket match.

I'm 58 and still bounce around the pub when we're on tv and we score. Can't do that sitting down!

    This <ok>

It's proven that it's more dangerous standing in seated areas, than it is to stand in a designated standing area.

We're never going to go back to the terraces the way they were. Everyone will still have their allocated spot, with a slightly different fold-away chair that gives us a bit more room - it will just be we are allowed to stand throughout the match.

It will come in soon enough, and clubs will have to decide where the area will be because a lot of people won't want to move from their area if they like sitting to allow this to happen. Many fans will be happy but plenty won't if they have to move!

I sit right behind the goal, towards the back of the stand, which will be a prime area for this. I know now many will complain if they get shunted forward or to the side to accommodate people wanting to stand. I'm not too fussed either way but know my old man at 70 won't want to stand the whole 90 minutes

Mentioned this earlier in the thread. I hope it happens at Arsenal, and one way around it might be to ask ST holders if they want to swap seats. If we designate a standing area behind the goals at the North Bank and Clock End, then you might find that those who want to sit are happy to swap places for somebody up in the East and West stands who want to stand behind the goals.

We currently have our 'singing section' to one side of the Rookery End. They want to be in the middle but fans won't move to allow them to be because they already stand for much of the game and most like sitting. Problem we have is many have had their tickets for a lot of years so won't want to move

I think they'd have to do the standing sections either on one/both ends of the stand, or maybe the back 10 rows or so

If it gets the go ahead I think each club will hold consultations with their fan base to see where to try it out. I doubt any club will go straight in for it without a trial. The ST holders will probably be balloted which is the fairest thing to do. The HFSG will have the biggest say at our club and I go along with whatever they want.

    He goes more than that.

On another note, my son started going with his mates to Loftus Rd, for some strange reason. If everyone stood up there the ****ing place would collapse.

If everyone stood up, half the crowd wouldn’t see the pitch.

Always wondered what would happen if there was a fire or something given it takes about ten minutes to filter out. The place is a hazard but I’d always take that over a generic bowl.

We were supposed to have a ‘Red Section’ when we built the emirates. I don’t know what happened to that ? Probably just got swallowed up in the clamour for ST’s

Shrewsbury’s is the back half of a stand. Seems to work.

Those spotty youths waving flags after a can of Relentless at Watford are best off tucked away in the corner as they are.

Safe standing is a misnomer, standing was safe for well over a hundred years until a tragedy occurred which was caused by many intervening circumstances (not least of which was the fans being fenced in like animals).
Standing terraces should be re-introduced asap to try and regain the original atmosphere and fan participation of football, otherwise it will fade and become a must do for tourists and thrill seekers.

This is where we’ve had a bit of a touch as the new ground has allowed people to relocate if they wish into different areas from their equivalent seats at WHL. Spurs also announced where safe standing will be implemented should it get given the green light so no one can complain about it now if they’re in a designated safe standing area, they were given plenty of notice/ warning.

Now if only we can actually complete the ****ing stadium, that’d be great.
