I have been reading all the posts over the last couple of weeks and have been hesitant to get too involved as I can understand both sides of the debate. What is clear that both sides are equally passionate about all things Ipswich but differ on how to achieve the end game we all are looking for, but I feel I'm ready to throw my opinion in the mix now

I was highly delighted when we parted company from Mick and equally enthused about the appointment of PH, however, I must confess that I was a bit unsettled when he brought so many new players in from the lower leagues, I get what both ME and PH are trying to achieve but the sheer weight of numbers surprised me, but we shouldn't forget that we have lost quite a few players through loanees returning to their parent clubs and also a few transfer requests were handed in through no fault of PH.

The fact that some people are bemoaning the fact that we haven't allowed players from our academy to be promoted I find quite surprising because the fact they play for our academy does not automatically ensure their place in the first team so imo that's not a problem, if the manager thinks they are not ready then that's good enough for me

JWM has already posed the question of how long do we give PH and he has voiced his opinion that maybe he should go sooner rather than later, he was slated for this view because of the few games that has been played, but that doesn't make him wrong, maybe PH isn't the one for us, and there has to be a cut off point somewhere, whether that's xmas/end of season/or 3 more games, when is enough enough?

We desperately need a win, any way we can and what better time to start than Sunday. If we win the confidence levels will sore and PH will be more confident in trying different tactics such as two up front. If we lose then things could well turn ugly for him, but lets not forget that if we do get relegated then PH would be the ideal choice of manager in league 1 which is kind of ironic really

As for ME I do think that this could well be his last roll of the dice and if things don't pan out as he expects then I can see him selling up, now some people might think this would be no great loss, but I guess I will be in the minority and say I would be very nervous about him going, can we really find another investor who is willing to bankroll this club of ours who are at the lower level of potential in the championship, mediocre fan base and located in carrot crunching territory, tough task that one!

So to finish, I think we have no choice but to support PH and hope he gets it right for all our sakes

A balanced and well-reasoned post, Yorkie. What we all have in common is that we support Ipswich Town and want to see our club play well and win games. Beat Norwich, and this forum will be happier and more relaxed. Good point about the academy lads too, not an angle most people want to entertain, but Hurst has come in and is evaluating these academy lads without any blue-tinted glasses. Kenlock, Emmanuel, and Nydam are decent players, but they are built up a fair bit by elements of our fan base and I’ve not seen a Town match where they’ve really impressed me. They will benefit from minutes on the pitch and experience from going out on loan though.

    Hi Yorkiegit.

I just can't get my head around the other side of the debate because we are not going to sack Hurst after 5 games. I'm not hearing anything constructive.

Daniel Farke in the opposite dugout has had a long time to be in much the same position.

What do these people actually want to see? Fewer set pieces conceded? Scoring more goals? As though Paul Hurst isn't working on that.

If you are not going to back Paul Hurst the only constructive action that I can see would be to oust Evans. But if we did that the club would surely go into administration and we'd find ourselves with a 10-point deduction and a drop down to League One to exacerbate the situation.

yes I agree with you regarding the ME issue, if he departed I think we would be in a world of hurt that's not worth contemplating

I think we have to give Hurst our full backing for 15 games and if we’re still in the bottom 3 then make a change.

I certainly wouldn’t make a change after 15 games. I see this as a long term project and even if we were to be relegated (which I don’t think we will). I would still stick with PH for at least 2 seasons and give him a chance to make long term goals for the club

Deffo needs at least 2 seasons! Its gonna take time to rebuild and get us playing how he wants us to play.

Good post, sums up a lot of my thoughts.

Can either be seen as lower league players or players on an upward curve making the next step up. Its just taking a longer time than many of us are comfortable with to click into gear, West Ham are also suffering from the same problem. Buying a whole new team is not going to have instant success, no matter what level they play at.

I do have concerns about academy products. Players such as Folami Dozzel and Morris have all shown they can have a positive impact in the first team, and play in the "right" way. Granted Dozzel is coming back from injury but I don't understand why Morris and Folami aren't getting time on the pitch, particularly over a strike force that has yielded nothing so far. On the other hand I think Woolfenden would be on the team sheet over Chambers if he hadn't got injured. Pleasing to see him back playing vs Crewe.

Regarding Evans I'm less concerned about not having Evans' money, he will sell to money if at all. I would be scared that he would sell to a far less patient and demanding, and even more distant owner in the ilk of Vincent Tan/venkys/Carson yeung. Evans may not be the best owner but at least he has shown willingness to respect the culture of the club.
