No. Anyone knows how it works. There is plenty of stuff online. Try googling. It isn't as complex as buying City tickets.

You can save me the time and explain it as you've obviously looked into it.

I know what you mean. Imagine immigrants taking a job that involves standing outside in all weathers hoping to sell something for which they'll get a massive £1.25 to keep for their very own. The dirty dirty bastards.

I tried to buy two tickets on my phone, I can't select seats, it will only let me buy with the 'quick buy' option, which for some ridiculous reason allocates you the worst seats available. Had to come to my office to do it, is I'm out and about tomorrow. ****ing useless bunch of ****ehawks.

Why can't it be loaded onto your card. Thought that was the idea of cards.

And open the door to working tax credits, housing benefit etc...Not a bad return for a few hours a week.
Less time than many people have to work outside in all weathers.

Looked into it and it came from IDS and then faithfully regurgitated in DM after DM article. FFS Castro wake up and stop swallowing hate propaganda.

The Big Issue movement is celebrating 23 years of changing lives. Best wishes have been coming in from across the land, including James & Street Cat Bob, our friends, readers and supporters - believers one and all. Sadly, for such a great British institution, a number of myths have grown up around us along the way. Here are the ones that we most frequently encounter. Please do share these and help spread the Big Issue word #celebrateyourvendor

“VENDORS GET THE MAGAZINES FOR FREE”
They wish. Vendors pay us £1.25 for each copy – they buy their stock just like every other high street retailer. Of the £2.50 you’ve shelled out, they make £1.25 and £1.25 goes to us to print next week’s Issue and cover our running costs. It’s a business, and has been for 23 years.

“I DON’T TAKE THE BIG ISSUE BUT I DONATE TO THE VENDOR BECAUSE I LIKE TO GIVE TO CHARITY”
The Big Issue magazine is not a charity. It's a business that makes money through sales and advertising sales. The Big Issue Foundation, is a financially independent charity which helps vendors move forward and has grants available to help them do just that.

“THAT VENDOR’S GOT BETTER TRAINERS THAN I DO”
Great! That means The Big Issue works. They’ve sold, saved and scored their footwear. Compliment them!

“THE BIG ISSUE USES HOMELESS PEOPLE TO MAKE LOADS OF MONEY”
The Big Issue magazine is a social enterprise, a business that puts its profits back into helping others who are homeless, vulnerably housed or at extreme disadvantage.

“THE BIG ISSUE IS NOTHING BUT A TORY / SOCIALIST RAG...”
Right, left, centre or off the map – the Big Issue holds all politicians of every stripe to account. Who are we to say what you or anybody else should spend your hard-earned wages on?

“IF I GIVE THEM MONEY THEY’LL JUST SPEND IT ON DRUGS OR DRINK”
Both the Big Issue and the Big Issue Foundation support vendors with addiction problems but not all of them have these problems. And who are we to say what you or anybody else should spend your hard-earned wages on? If you go clubbing, eat junk food, buy a bottle of wine on Fridays, that’s your business. And if you worry about what a Big Issue vendor will do with your money, take a look at what some banks do with it… nobody’s perfect!

“THEY HAVE TO SELL A CERTAIN AMOUNT OF MAGAZINES OR THEY’LL BE SACKED”
Vendors are micro-business people, independently managing their work. They are not employed by The Big Issue but they are encouraged to develop sales and financial skills. If a vendor is only buying a handful of magazines a week and using them as a cover for begging that is a breach of the vendor agreement and, yes, we will stop selling to him or her.

“IT’S BETTER TO JUST GIVE THEM THE MONEY AND NOT TAKE THE MAGAZINE”
It’s a fantastic, award-winning magazine – take it, read it, you’ll love it! Giving vendors a handout – not taking the magazine – goes against everything we stand for. Take the magazine so your vendor is working, not begging. Don’t make your vendor into a beggar.

“SELLING THE BIG ISSUE IS JUST A SCAM”
Being a magazine salesperson on a busy street is not an easy option – if you were looking for a 'scam' to make fast money, you wouldn't be selling The Big Issue! Our vendors stand out there in all weathers and many of them work very long hours in order to earn enough to live on. Saying that selling The Big Issue is a money-making scam is the same as saying going to work is a money-making scam.

“IT’S NOT SUPPOSED TO BE A LONG-TERM JOB BUT MY VENDOR’S BEEN SELLING FOR YEARS”
We have to accept that there are some people who come to us who will never be able to join or rejoin the mainstream of society. For those people, we think continuing as a vendor is better for them and society than pulling the plug on our support and possibly pushing them into begging.

“I THOUGHT ONLY THE HOMELESS COULD SELL THE BIG ISSUE BUT I LIVE NEXT DOOR TO A SELLER…”
We’ve learned by bitter experience not to cut off support from a vendor too soon. We will continue supporting the vendor until we’re confident they no longer need us and have mastered the skills many of us take for granted: putting aside enough money to cover food, rent and utilities, and paying their bills on time.

“ROMA GANGS ARE STOPPING BRITISH VENDORS GETTING MAGAZINES”
We’ve plenty of magazines and plenty of pitches to go around, this has simply never happened. It’s a big world and we welcome all vendors equally no matter where they’re from.

“PEOPLE ONLY SELL THE BIG ISSUE TO GET BENEFITS”
We never encourage, condone or provide cover for any illegality or exploitation of benefits, immigration or income tax, and we work with all government and local authorities to meet our commitments. Big Issue vendors are only entitled to the same benefits as anyone else in Britain.

“I SAW A VENDOR SHOPPING AT WAITROSE – THEY’RE BETTER OFF THAN ME”
Everyone deserves a little luxury, especially if you work as hard as a Big Issue vendor. Smile and say hello, hopefully it means they’ve had a good week!

The Big Issue Foundation is a financially independent charity please help us by making a donation. Your support will literally change people's lives.

Population denial and casual racism so far today.

If we haven’t had a bit of homophobia by teatime, I’ll be well disappointed.

If you normally sit in the North or South Stand you can't add the ticket to your card as those seats aren't available for sale.
