Anyway, if anyone’s learnt a lesson today it’s you Magic. That will teach you to post optimistic threads! Anyone up for doing the Brighton thread?
Yes I was going to say optimism is for suckers but thought people wouldn't want to hear that at this current time. Optimism is for suckers
There were two potential fouls in the build up. The trip on Austin and a shove. My feed would not let my rewind so do not know how legit it was. Also PEH may have been legit fouled outside the box. There doesn’t have to be contact for there to be a foul. But it doesn't matter. Hojbjerg did at some point decide to go down. And if you are sitting on a yellow, you know what could happen. So still a stupid move on his part. We still made too many mistakes an defense. We still have trouble getting the ball to the strikers. That’s why we lost. Even in the first half where we were better, a lot of it was Leicester being bad rather than us being good. It was overall a bit of a dull half.
Reading other forums looks like the knives are already out for MH I'm gonna reserve judgement until 10 games into the season where I'd expect a return of at least 10 points otherwise bye bye Marky and your dinosaur football!
Last season we were either **** and lost or played well in parts and lost. This season is off to an average start but signs are there it will be more of the same.
Almost forgot to say cheers for the ticket @thereisonlyoneno7, much appreciated and good to see you again
How often do we hear the stat about the number of points Saints “threw away” from winning positions last year? How often did everyone complain after a loss last season that the team was doing well except Pellegrino cost us the match by supposedly being too defensive or not reacting to the other teams’ subs in the second half? Even under Hughes. We almost went down from an injury time goal. Probably should have.
For once, following a defeat, I actually plan to watch motd, so I guess I’ll know more then. Looked to me like he was sandwiched between two defenders, went down a bit easy, but not a clear cut dive. It was right in front of me too. Not really blaming the ref though. It’s the gods of football I’m pissed off with
Need to stop blaming the manager. Let’s say we are doing that poorly after ten games (which is hardly predestined). Two different managers, same ****. Maybe that’s not the problem. But okay, even assuming it isn’t the talent and Hughes really is bad, and Pellegrino was as well— who keeps hiring these fools? And why should we expect anything to change if the same people are still in charge? Should the team not turn things around it is glaringly obvious to me the problem is at the top. You have to sack Reed. And if the new guy wants to sack Hughes and bring in a new manager, fine.
From the highlights, the moment before he went down from a couple angles: please log in to view this image
I haven't read though the posts (largely because I can guess what many will say), but I will say two things. 1. I need to see their winner, because my brain can't work out how it went it (given that no media outlet seems to be mentioning any sort of deflection, so presumably there was none. In which case, what was Alex doing?). 2. At HT, I was happiest I'd been with a Saints performance for a very, very long time. Other than Ings not being particularly involved, I thought we were excellent - and even though the chance(s) fell Leicester's way, a fair HT score for me would have been a 2-0 Saints lead.
Oh dear oh dear..........I am not sure some of you were at the same match as me............The ref had a very bad day to say the least. He was blowing more for what he thought he saw rather than what actually happened. As for the sending off that happened directly in front of me, I was probably closer to the action than the ref was........there was contact practically all the time with the defender and certainly was a foul before he got into the box which the ref should have possibly blown for. If the ref didn't consider it a foul that should have been the end to it as the ball had gone out of play. He missed quite a lot of pushing and pulling in the box from corners. Generally Saints played well as others have Said for 60/70 minutes. Although in the second half the long cross field balls which put Leicester on the back foot just did not happen second half. We were so vulnerable down our right flank and eventually paid the price for our vulnerability on that side. I still cant fathom how that second goal went in. Gonna have to watch match of the day as it seemed to me to just go past Mccarthy although it seemed close to him. Very disappointing day...........
Whilst I agree that it is too early to start having a pop at hughes, it can't be argued that he has made some horrible tactical decisions already thiis season.
Yeah, they dumped us for a match to give some free advertising to scope which is a charity they support. they did the same thing last year iirc.
