early goal needed today. Get the fans on the teams back and get the sacked in the morning chant going. Unfortunately Crouch comes on and equalises late on... nah. Got to get the Beast on him, nice and tight.
Bit of a worry with Shawcross, Pieters etc coming up for corners with our vulnerability to them. I'd think about three at the back but McDonald out of favour and no other centre back this is when you realise we need an old head at the back.

    Marshall

    Lichaj Burke de Wijs Kingsley

    Henriksen Batty

    Bowen Evandro Irvine

    Campbell

A 2-1 win for us. We know we've got to hold on at the end under the barrage. I hope they're ready for it.

    Come on City.

    2-2.

Look neat, tidy and cultured. Craft two well worked goals. Play it about a bit. Get the pundits purring.

Unfortunately gash at the back as usual. Marshall has to play out of his skin but can do nothing the two times we are sliced open like a ripe avocado, our defence yielding to the slightest touch and the ball being deposited in our net by an unchallenged galoot who, in more testing circumstances, would never score in a month of Sundays.

I think your team Chazz is likely to be the one. However, have a feeling we might get done on the backlash of their loss to Wigan. I hope not, and to be fair we have a decent away record this season so far. Fingers crossed I am wrong.

My lad reckons, after talking to a Stokie mate, that they may have a young kid at Centre Half. If so we need to bully the youngster into submission.

Bearing that in mind we’ll hammer the six fingered ****ers 3 nowt.

We’ll learn from the previous game and get stronger. Nigel’s getting them playing his way and instilling belief into the players.

    It’s a marathon not a sprint.

    Regulation 4 nowt to us.

    You Ull.

    He he.

Just thought l'd put this in from Hdm. What I've always said about young kids, have that secure base to help you push on. Well said young Dan.

Dan Batty still reliant on home comforts as he strives to make it big
The rookie midfielder is enjoying his breakthrough season with the Tigers

Nigel Adkins talks to the press ahead of Hull City's trip to Stoke City
There is a stereotypical image of the modern footballer. Big house, impressive car and all the other luxuries that come with those bumper pay cheques.

Hull City’s Dan Batty, though, can still break the mould. The 20-year-old might have become a regular in the Championship this season but he continues to live at home with his parents. Life is yet to really change for Batty and that is just how he wants it to be.

“I’m just trying to take it all in my stride,” he said. “I live over towards Pontefract and I’m still at home. I’m still with my Mum and Dad so they keep me ticking over.

“They’ll make sure I keep my feet on the ground and that’s what I want. I just want to stay as I am. I don’t want to be changing anything.”

Hull City's Dan Batty pulls away from Sheffield Wednesday midfielder Barry Bannan
Batty says he is yet to be recognised away from City’s training ground as he prefers the quiet life based in West Yorkshire but that will surely stop soon.

The central midfielder has started each game he has been fit for this season, earning the trust of Nigel Adkins as a partner for captain Markus Henriksen.

Batty’s return to the starting XI on Tuesday night helped City to record a 3-2 win away to Rotherham United and suggested he will get another chance up against Stoke City this afternoon.

“For me it’s been good so far,” said Batty. “It’s been nice to be involved in a lot of the games. I missed one and the cup game so it’s been a good start.

“It’s been tough in a few games, especially to start off with. I feel like I’m growing into it more and feeling a bit more confident about myself when I play.

Hull City manager Nigel Adkins (right) chats with Dan Batty ahead of the clash with Sheffield Wednesday
“Tuesday night was great. It was a nice three points on the board for us and it was needed. I had quite a few family and friends in the away end. The usual lot that come to all the games. There was five of them. They really enjoyed it.

“I could see them at the end. It wasn’t hard to spot them. They loved every minute, just like me I think.”

City needed to recapture that sense of joy after last weekend’s loss at home to Blackburn. Standards slipped badly against Tony Mowbray’s men, with the Tigers jeered at the full-time whistle.

“Monday morning was a bit of a struggle,” said Batty, who missed the game with a minor injury. “It wasn’t nice to see that result, as bad as it was. The manager touched upon a lot of things afterwards. We went back and watched the game as a group and said what needed to be done.

“I think from that we got a burst of energy and some togetherness to go forward at Rotherham.

Dan Batty has started three of Hull City's four Championship games to date
“It was a game we knew we could get points from. The mood around here is getting a lot better. It’s bright and bubbly at the minute so we just need to keep that going.”

If any individuals sum up the exuberance of this Tigers squad it is the new kids on the block. Adam Curry, Robbie McKenzie and Brandon Fleming have all followed Batty into the first-team fold and helped City to a penalty shoot-out win away to Sheffield United in the Carabao Cup.

“It’s great having academy lads all involved,” said Batty, who watched McKenzie make his league debut for City off the bench in midweek.

“I’ve grown up with them. It’s not just about doing well yourself, you want to see others come through as well. We’ve all worked hard as a group since we came back for pre-season and the years before that. It’s nice to get the opportunity to play on the big stage.

Hull City's Dan Batty, Jarrod Bowen and Brandon Fleming leave the pitch at Hillsborough
“I always knew the lads would put a shift in. They were going to try their hardest and that’s all you can ask for. They played their own game and got a nice little win.

“The manager has seen what they’re capable of on the training ground and it’s nice for us all to be part of it.

“It’s good growing up with someone and seeing them do as well as yourself. I’d like to think they can do a job in the Championship as well. We all want to get in there as much as we can.”

A trip to Stoke City also raises the prospect of the Tigers facing another academy graduate. Josh Tymon flew the nest last summer when turning down the offer of a new deal from his hometown club but is currently unable to command a place in Gary Rowett’s side.

“I haven’t spoken to him yet this week,” said Batty. “It’ll be nice to catch up with him again. I played with him for two or three years. Josh was in the year below so we played together in the 18s and 23s. He obviously left at a young age but it’s nice to see him move forward.”

Asked if Tymon made the right choice given the opportunities that have come for others at the KCOM, Batty opts for diplomacy. “It was completely up to him (whether or not to leave) the greedy money grabbing ****. It could have been a bit too early and he could be playing here as first choice left back with a full championship season under his belt but you never know. It won't be the right choice in the long run and in a few years he'll be turning out for some pub side in the Hull Sunday League."

Batty’s only focus is on extending Stoke’s woe. A 3-0 defeat at home to Wigan Athletic left the Potters without a win from four games since relegation from the Premier League and the subject of jeers from their own fans.

“I’d like to think it’s a good time to be playing Stoke,” Batty added. “There’s maybe some pressure on them because their results haven’t been how they’ve wanted them to be.

“We’re coming off a win so our mood is positive and we’re looking at getting something from the game.”

Amongst other things, he’s a bit of a lucky charm is Tymo.

    Teams he’s seen action with:

    Hull City 2016/17 – relegated

    Stoke City 2017/18 – relegated

    MK Dons 2017/18 – relegated

    Stoke U23s 2018/19 - ?

Playing this lot was never going to easy but losing 3 nowt at home won’t have gone down well in the Stoke dressing room and we could see a backlash today.

    Hope I am wrong like.

I predict a game of two halves which either football club could win or draw.

Imagine the contrast of emotions from bending the winner in at Stoke , to going home to a bollocking from your mum for leaving your kegs on the floor

I've seen Tymon getting a lot of stick on Social Media.

I think it's harsh. He was obvious messed around and underappreciated by the Allams.

I'll go for a win for one and a defeat for the other. Or a draw.

Yes it was. Either team can win. Or they can draw. If one team wins the other loses.
