SportsDirect @ St James' Park to replace Newcastle United sign?

    Would need a date for the photo, In the photos of Santon and Elliott holding up the shirts it still said "NEWCASTLE UNITED" so unless this was taken yesterday or this morning, it means nothing.

    Plus the fact if they were taking the whole thing down, it would make no sense not to do it in order, why miss letters out rather than just move along and do them in order?

    I noticed that too, I don't know if it was meant to be representative of our transfer dealings and what Pie Boy is trying to do to the club or whether it is genuine. Lee Ryder reporting that it is being changed but will remain a Toon logo apparently. Either way it is disgusting, that sign is iconic.

    ****ing hell this pisses me off no end. You may be able to **** around with our best players, not invest in new ones, and blatantly lie to fans, but you CAN NOT **** with St. James Park! We had the most beautiful stadium in the league and Ashley has cheapened it with his ****ing Sports Direct logos. I hope if/when somebody else buys the club they tear down everything that says Sports Direct and turns SJP back into how it should be.

    Ashley doesn`t give a f@@k about the fans feelings and still doesnt understand the passion/ history of the club. He is moving us backwards not forwards

    Not defending Ashley or owt but lets wait and see if it is just a new logo or design or whatever.

    If you look closely at the pictures from when Santon signed, you can see the ropes hanging down. So, this will be from yesterday.

    You know, I wouldnt mind as much if Ashley owned abit of a classier business. But its like having Pound Shop logos plastered all over the place

    Really? If they were just modernising it I wouldnt be too bothered, at least they're trying to do something for us. I would of course like it to stay up though, it's iconic.

    This! The amount of Sports Direct advertising around the ground is a joke. And you're right. This isnt my biased. St James' is a beautiful ground. Its unique. There isnt a ground like it. And, it has been made a mockery of by Ashley. Its a real real shame. I hate, the massive logo on the gallowgate too. It sort of seems, disrespectful. Aside from the KOP. Its probably the most famous stand in the country.

    I really hate that, first thing I would do if I could ever buy the club would be to personally tear down every Sports Direct sign and banner there is.

    This! Still wouldnt want the gallowgate plastered in advertising no matter what it was. But, at least we could have something like "British Airways" or "T-moblie"

    Id do the same. And get great satisfaction doing it. Hell, I would do it while Ashley was there too. And then ask for him to ejected from the ground.

    Haven't been on this forum for a while, but came back to see if there was any news on the sign saga.

    I hope there's some explanation, like the sign is just being repaired, but it seems too much of a coincidence considering this thread was created weeks ago.

    I'm going to be devastated if this sign is replaced, even more so if there's going to be more Sports Direct garbage. Is there's not enough of it plastered around SJP already?
