I thought Rotherham would be a special test, the previous two games the opposition would have looked at us on paper and thought we are better than them, this time around our players had to work out how to get through 10 men behind the Ball. It’s all a learning curve for them and they’re learning fast
He thinks Phillips is the dogz and his stats prove that and he thinks Berardi can play anywhere in defence and thinks his CB play has been very good. So thts should upset Wakey but Bielsas words not mine. Phillips had an ok first half for me but a couple of errors were almost costly, I also get the feeling he cant wait to have Pontus back

I don't think Bielsa would play a system with a target man as such. I think he'd rather lose a game and try and play his way, hopefully we won't lose too many. I would have liked another CB (at least) as well but it hasn't happened, I don't know how likely it is we will get players that will improve the squad now. I was getting worried before we got Douglas too but then again I didn't expect Bielsa to improve the current squad the way he has. Injuries haven't helped so far either, do we know when Forshaw is due back? Afternoon all by the way

Leeds United owner Andrea Radrizzani has revealed that he had shortlisted Antonio Conte, Claudio Ranieri and Roberto Martinez for the Whites managerial vacancy earlier this summer before appointing Marcelo Bielsa at Elland Road. The Italian, who was speaking to Italy's Gazzetta dello Sport, says that former Chelsea managers Conte and Ranieri were priorities for the club even admitting he would have offered the former €20 million to take over in West Yorkshire. Belgium boss Martinez was also a target but complications struck with the World Cup before Radrizzani landed the Argentine who he was told would be "impossible" to get through the Thorp Arch doors. "Conte [was on the list] and with him, we would have been certain of promotion to the Premier League," Radrizzani told La Gazzetta dello Sport report ESPN. "I would even have offered him €20 million. Then I interviewed [Claudio] Ranieri who was attracted by our interest, but declined as he was waiting for a call from a top-flight club. I even spoke to [Roberto] Martinez, but Belgium were an obstacle. "At the end of May, I spoke with our director of football [Victor] Orta and he said Bielsa would be ideal, but that it would be impossible [to get him]. Those words just motivated me even more and we negotiated for a few days then reached an agreement at £3m, which he shares with his staff, and a one year plus one year option as duration. "We finished negotiations after ten hours of conversation in Buenos Aires. He'd studied 20 of our games and already knew all the players, including the youngsters. It seemed impossible to get him here, but he's our top player. We are a Premier League club, and even more so with him." Radrizzani also revealed that he wants top flight football sooner rather than later for Leeds, adding that if he can't achieve it he will return to Italy: "England is the ultimate and I'm aiming for the Premier League within 3-4 years, otherwise I might think about returning [to Italy]."
I'm going to say it before anyone else does, he would have paid £20m to get Ranieri but instead got Bielsa for £3m, I hope Bielsa doesn't get upset at this news and does that mean we have £17m left for spending
Not sure I believe that,we are doing as well as we are because of the new manager not because we have been supported with money.We've only spent about £4-5 million and the owners on about balancing the books,so to use an old posters words,think the 20 million is just PR spin.
Probably a throw away comment by Rads trying to stress how hard he tried to get him, even if I had not known what a great start Bielsa was going to achieve, boy would I have been pissed off to learn we paid £20m for a coach in the Championship, £500k for PH was bad enough
Just to add to this, a very very poor move by Rads if it is anywhere near true, why disclose that your coach who is working wonders is on just £3m that is also shared amongst his staff and only a one year (plus option) contract, talk about attracting the wrong kind of attention
