I watched all the goals. One shocking clearance and two Keystone Cops defending accounted for 3 goals. Not sure the second penalty was a pen. It is just one game provided doesn't happen again, we move on.
Admittedly I might be a bit of a soft touch in that I think negativity spreads like a plague and feeds off of endless criticism. That said I suppose the mistakes and bad decisions at the moment do outweigh the good but I hope that tide is turning. The next week of the loan window could decide our fate this season.
It's not black, it's black-only. It was my impression after being shafted by Harry Redknapp, Tony made a political decision to go with a black manager. May be it was a trust thing, I don't know. It was a fad he had, it narrowed down those available and didn't pay off. Now he's gone back to faded "names" which isn't paying off either. Rather than really assessing the needs and get the best fit for the club (race or colour immaterial)
Thought I would add my bit to this. Was working yesterday - saw score at 1 -0 to WBA and then 1 all. Got a text from a mate rubbing in the defeat. Mac has said that the club are looking at loans due to lack of funds. James Collins (not attached to a club) and even Ned could be potential good signings depending on wages. Hopefully the 2 strikers we are linked with will come through as well. Players have left for developmental reasons - Manning to Rotherham, Wheeler to Portsmouth so there is a need for experienced heads. Hopefully yesterdays result will be in the kick up the arse that the players need. Maybe after Tuesday's cup win they thought that it would be easy but. The side does have a few youngsters in and maybe they have still not got Steeve's message. I hope that he is given a chance to put things right, chopping and changing managers cannot be any good for the club or the players. We have also been down that particular road before where we had JFH for a year, Ramsay 10 months (although good decision to keep hold and keep him coaching) and one or two others. Some clubs during course of a season where none of the team turn up - lets hope that this was "our day" yesterday and this is just a blip. Sheff Utd and PNE were tough games, WBA an ex premiership team with a lot of players from last season still there were also going to be a tough match. Keep the faith - season is still young. Maybe there will and could be a time we do this to one of our Championship rivals.
And he has gotten away with it so far due to his "Uncle Tony" personality. Many abusers or psychopaths are very endearing!
Just a comment on one thing you said, Ninj, but a comment-in-general rather than aimed at you: It is a well worn cliche for somebody to call a heavy defeat a “bad day at the office”, to state that we must “learn from it”, work hard in training to iron out the errors and how such (hopefully) freak results are “the kick up the arse” the players needed. But why do players constantly need a kick up the arse to avoid repeating the same mistakes? Where is the mental toughness, the ne’er say die attitude, the leader? I’d argue that the Rs haven’t really had that sort of player since Derry or Hill (maybe Nelsen?); limited footballers, but set the right example to those around them. Ned didn’t have it. I don’t know about BFG2, but he must be wondering what in the hell he’s walked into. Much is said of getting the spine right in a team and I wholly agree with it’s primary importance. Trying to play the ball out from the back is admirable, but if you’ve got ten outfield members of the Keystone Cops it ain’t gonna work much. We need rid of Washington, Sylla, Cousins, Bidwell, Lynch and I dare say 2-3 others and start scouring the globe for a few grown ups that know what they’re doing and can lead by example.
I agree with all you say but I think those players you've mentioned are like gold to us considering the fact that we cannot use the Winter window. As bad as some of them are, we cannot afford to lose any of them until at least Summer 2019. We never know when we'll need them. We don't have the best luck with injuries. Is it time to get rid of the black cat?
Uber - you hit the nail on the head - someone like Derry, Clint Hill or Ryan Neilson would be a perfect fit for this club. A leader on the pitch that would lead by example. I am a glass half full type of person - and as much as I hate seeing my team lose - I often have to search for a positive - even if I am clutching at straws
I’m just pissed off about it, yeah. I’m on holiday in Menorca (fly back tomorrow) so s’pose I have more time on my hands. I’m completely with the “let’s support the team” or “let’s support the manager”. It’s just that McClaren was a ****ing crap appointment in the first place and not much of an upgrade on Ollie in my opinion.
By the way, I sat next to an ex-employee of the club at the cup game the other day. He used to work for the uni that loans Harlington to QPR and then he worked at QPR as a trainer. I forgot his name... Anyway, he said he met McClaren after the first game of the season and McClaren didn't go on the team coach with the players. He instead went back to London in a chauffer driven car. This guy asked him what message might that send to the players and apparently McClaren's response was "Oh, I like a car."
All the repeated talk about Holloway, and his achievements, seems to forget all the poor football from last season. The lack of interest from fans at the football we played - who haven’t made their way back to watching us. The bizarre team selections week after week after week. The fact he was pressed into using youngsters (then making it out to be a master stroke). I’m as mad and frustrated as the next guy about the lack of replacement of experience in the squad and the poor start - which I can’t say I am surprised at (however I don’t accept a 7-1 loss by either the team or the management). But to say Holloway is/was the answer are definitely being selective. He was/is a passionate QPR man, and I thank him for the job he did, but he had done all he could. Something had to be done to try and move forward. But it’s 3 games - it doesn’t look good; but we need to get our heads up and start to perform (and the board and management need to sort a few loans before the end of the month). I await the end of the loan period now and will be hoping things improve soon.
Nakhi Wells and Tomer Hemed will come in on loan this week....we’ll start scoring again and we’ll all go back to being happy, positive and looking forward to the future. You heard it here first.
