Lfc apparently not paying all staff a real living wage despite promising all staff will get it. Pretty sad if true, no football club making millions and paying out millions in wages to players should not give rest of staff that make the club run day to day a decent wage. If if all the players took a 0.5% pay decrease would probably be more than enough to increase those lowest earners
We are in the same boat mate, it would probably only take a couple of players to take that drop and make the difference. That said, for what it would cost to bring all none playing staff up to a living wage the club/s wouldn't even notice.
Maybe the non-playing staff should take a few days off and let the PL players do the cleaning, cooking, admin work and grounds maintenance...see how that fares! It's pretty embarrassing that PL clubs are being tight on wages at any level given how much they turnover. I know wages should be comparable to similar jobs elsewhere, but a living wage isn't asking for much.
LFC are paying staff directly employed by themselves the living wage, but the subcontractor they use(Stadium TM)under pay their staff. Can't see how LFC can make them pay their staff more, they could however put the subcontract out for tender again and choose a company that does pay its staff the living wage, or better still take on its own staff to do the jobs the subbies are doing and pay them the living wage themselves.
Really? They are using that contracting company because they are the lowest bidders, how do they think they do the job so cheaply.
Only read the headline so fair enough. As you say can’t force them to do it but yeah there are ways lfc can influence that and to be seen as a moral company you’d like to think they’d ensure their sub contractors were abiding by the same values that lfc abide by
To be fair, you don’t know for definite they are the lowest bidders. No one but the procurement team at lfc know the tender process and why each contractor was chosen.
Ability to do the task that’s needed generally from the little experience I have in going out to tender, you have a list of 4/5 key points which are all as important as each other and then you’ll score them on those points. Cost is just one of them along with experience, ability, values
Availability, reliability, cost. The three primary requirements, the first two will be promised by all (time tells a story there) which leaves the third. LFC, MUFC, any company, doesn't give a **** what subbies are being paid as long as the job is done as cheaply as possible. Sad but true account of life in the real world. When you are talking about experience and values you are into a different level of contracting than minimum pay jobs.
I agree, but like any construction company for example, they pay the sub contractor the agreed price and they pay their workers what ever they see fit, like I said, big football clubs should have no need to hire sub contractors to do security work, they should employ their own people and train them up and therefore ensure the living wage is paid for all workers on their property.
Here's the company's website, the clients/customers appear at the bottom of the page, LFC are the highest profile club that uses their services by the look of it. https://www.stadiumtm.co.uk
Real Madrid are ready to pay 300 million euros (£270m) for Brazilian forward Neymar if Uefa sanctions force Paris St-Germain into selling the 26-year-old. (Sport)
Jurgen Klopp has hinted he will be ready to deploy Fabinho as a centre-back if necessary throughout the new season. The Brazilian arrived at the club this summer with a bright reputation as a versatile holding midfielder capable of slotting into defence, having formerly played as a right-back. Pre-season even saw Klopp experiment with Fabinho as a central-defender for short periods in light of Dejan Lovren’s absence and Joel Matip’s minor injury.
Using all that "efficiency" businesses are supposed to be overflowing with every time the subject of privitisation is raised?
I am uncomfortable supporting any business that doesn't look after its workers properly. Minimum wage isn't nearly enough, imo, and a flourishing football club, that throws millions at the over-inflated egos of (some) youngsters just because they can kick a ball, should do better. I would like our club to return, in some little way at least, to the "family" attitude it used to have - see the ancillary staff as part of that, and value them accordingly. If things really must be put out to tender, then one of the criteria should be that everyone involved should be paid adequately.
so 1. what wage is actually being paid? 2. what is the gap to the living wage? 3. who determines the living wage? 4. what skills are required for these jobs? 5. what was actually promised by lfc? frankly i see this same argument applied to a lot of places and not just in uk. if the job is ****.. and employment stands a 4% of something now.. well.. the same argument that was applied to me applies to others. if you are not happy move jobs. then they will quickly start paying more
1.minimum wage/National Living wage* 21 and over £7.38 & £7.83 respectively 2 £8.75 3.Real Living wage foundation https://www.livingwage.org.uk/what-real-living-wage 4.does it matter ? 5.To pay it's employees the Real Living wage hopefully. Your final point is frankly ridiculous since i somehow think you had educational qualifications and skills which allowed you to earn more than the "minimum wage" from quite early early on in your career. For many these days all available jobs are minimum wage or just slightly better. *The National Living Wage is really just the minimum wage rebranded to try and take the political sting out of the Real Living Wage .
Reduce the amount of money Agents are allowed to leech from the game to pay all staff properly. Simple.
