Just highlights what an odd move Gerrard made. What a terrible league completely dominated by Celtic. Them getting knocked out just makes it all look worse.

maybe Gerrard has got lucky and celtic are about to implode and this is the first signs of it.

or maybe Gerrard is genius and saw it all coming.

or maybe he is just an idiot.

I dont think gerrard has gone there with anything to do with the quality of football, its more the experience of managing a club with a big support that will put massive pressure on the team. Rangers are one of the most well known clubs, even if they are ****e, gives him a good experience of dealing with pressure and the spotlight that he wouldnt get managing in the championship or lower.

Taking a quick glimpse at Scottish league, I see that Celtic haven't started the season on top. Table means nothing after 2 games of course but Celtic are not going to want to remain mid-table. Rangers have had a decent start.

    Brilliant move by Gerrard.

He takes over a ‘massive club’ and will be supported home and away by large numbers. He won’t be micro managing but I guess he will have a big say on major decisions regarding playing staff and development. If it goes wrong then he can point to funding/league etc as an out, but I can’t see that happening.

He would still be in the running for a job at a big championship club/premier league club when he wants to make a move I’m sure.

I think personality is a big factor in being a manager - the ability to connect with, and get the best from, the players at your disposal.
I've never noticed Stevie display much personality at all, so I think this job might give us a clue as to whether or not he has what it takes to lead. On the pitch he led by example, it's a different job now.

How? Its the least stressful job in the world.
There's no challenge for the title and just playing in Europe is a bonus, they don't even expect to win any games when there.

Anybody could half arse that job.

Really? You think that picture is someone passing for late 30s? Looks more like someone in early 40, and now someone who is about 50. Which isn't far off reality.

So you think Celtic has only aged him about 8 years? He's only been there 2 years so that's still a lot.

I'd say when he went he looked about 42-45 and now looks 45-48.

    so about 3-6 years

Which is frankly not bad for a football manger

    Or just Vain.

I refer to the gigantic portrait above his fireplace.

Those who hate him so point to the fact he has a picture of himself hung pride of place in the family home as proof of unchecked arrogance. In actuality the painting was a gift to the Liverpool manager from a charity he had helped in Swansea.
